It was a very good year, 1947. Especially good for medium and lower budgeted films. I think of Desperate, Repeat Performance, The Beast With Five Fingers, High Barbaree, The Web, Desert Fury. This trend would continue for a few more years, into the early Fifties, ended circa 1951-52.

You, like me, chose a killer over Santa Claus for Best Supporting Actor.

Yep, Miracle on 34th Street deserved to be awarded the Best Picture Oscar that year, but light-hearted family films generally lose out to the serious drama films.

Top 3 from the year: The Damned/ Les maudits Antoine and Antoinette The Pearl. How could I miss The Damned on my search, Superb Submarine Suspense!. Definitely make a top twenty list of mine! Thanks Spike, and out of the others I listed,The Pearl is one you will really enjoy (filming was delayed for ages in Mexico,so Steinbeck decided to spend his time in Mexico adapting his script into a novel.) Recently,a print appeared on YT with Eng Subs-with the print being far better than my DVD: I'd go into detail over what makes it stand out,but that page of reviews says everything which needs to be said: www.imdb.com/title/tt0037981/reviews?ref_=tt_ov_rtLook forward to reading how you find it to be.
