After 50 years, Brahmins won't have no significance even in rural areas.

Don't have any idea about Kerala, but frankly, doesn't seem like me, the Bengali Brahmin or Amit, The non Bengali Brahmin, are ruling in Bengal.

The only bramhins who gets the benefit of the caste are the ones who are involved in pujas and wedding, i mean the one who reads mantra and all. This is a country where there is a kota for schedule caste so it is more difficult getting admissions and jobs for bramhins. Anyways some bramhinss treated lower caste very badly in the past which i am aware of and in village places it is still going on in some places but in urban areas people are open minded with business and money as the prime purpose of life.

"I want to be the head priest or at least the lower priest, so that I can touch the god and give god a bath"
So, that is the reason? man, I don't get to touch the idol at Dakshineshwar temple even if I want. Nothing to do with me being a Brahmin, but the fact that there are huge crowds.
In Kamakshya temple in Assam, one doesn't get to enter the temple easily unless one is ready to pay 500 bucks for the same.

Seems like it's only in the South that Brahmins wield any sort of power.

Is Kolu dude a Brahmin? Anyway, I know a Telugu dude who is a Brahmin but can't marry a lady from MP cause her father wants her to marry in the caste.
So, where is the privilege of being a Brahmin?

Finally something both you and kal agree on. He argues that Brahmins are the most disadvantaged group in India these days.

Man, frankly I don't care. Other than Brahmins being deprived in higher education.
BTW, some hill Brahmins come under the SC quota. Good for them.

pimpinainteasyWell, James Michael Curley certainly didn't think so, but then I don't think he was as tough as he thought he was.

i don't understand the quotas screwing upper castes idea at all. to me, it looks like a relatively smaller % of people from the upper castes are making it very difficult for other category people to get through in general category.
