Italian director Umberto Lenzi has died. In the early days of VHS, Lenzi became known in the U.S. primarily for some of his horror movies around that same period--MAKE THEM DIE SLOWLY (CANNIBAL FEROX), EATEN ALIVE, NIGHTMARE CITY, etc.--though most of them are far from his best work. Lenzi actually worked in every conceivable genre over the years--Westerns, Eurospy pictures, action pictures, gialli, war movies, peplums, crime films, even made a Robin Hood movie once (though I've never seen it). He was 85. www.horrorsociety.com/2017/10/19/breaking-cult-italian-director-umberto-lenzi-passed-away/

Very sad to hear this - one of the greatest and most influential filmmakers in genre cinema. He'd been quite ill, but, I'm a little shocked and deeply saddened to hear the news.
Umberto Lenzi R.I.P.

Oh hell I watch a lot of his films. But not the animal cruelty ones.

A guilty pleasure filmmaker even with Nightmare City aka City of the Walking Dead being guilty pleasures even Cannibal Ferox aka Make Them Die Slowly (which i saw in the late 90s as a teen on video and made me sick but i ignored the horrible animal murders and is a guilty pleasure).
A shame we keep losing influential horror makers.

RIP...We've lost some irreplaceable giants this past year: Tobe Hooper, George Romero and now Umberto Lenzi. It's a sad year for horror fans.

I haven't seen alot of his work, but "Spasmo" is a definite favourite. I enjoyed "Nightmare Beach" and "Nightmare City" too. RIP Lenzi.

Nightmare City is one of the most entertaining trash movies ever, and I do have a soft spot for Ghosthouse too. However Lenzi made his best films in other genres during 60s and 70s, from adventure films to cop thrillers. AFAIK he never was very fond of the horror genre.
