I think that was supposed to be the next installment of their shared film universe of monster movies. A sign that the Dark Universe franchise is dead?
Edit:
"...After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone "Bride of Frankenstein." None of us want to move too quickly to meet a release date when we know this special movie needs more time to come together. Bill is a director whose enormous talent has been proven time and again, and we all look forward to continuing to work on this film together." (Christian Post)

I hope it isn't dead, but I hope they put more effort into it than they did with The Mummy.

That's bad news. I also hope they go through with it eventurally, mostly because of the work he did on Gods & Monsters, which was about the director of the original Bride of Frankenstein.

(Christian Post) Well Dracula Untold was really supposed to be the first of their shared Movie Monster universe. That flopped and then the Mummy flopped, and now this... It's not looking good.

Universal's approach to the Dark Universe has been wrong from the start. They were more bent on creating a universe rather than a good movie. The Mummy felt more like a set up for the other films than a standalone flick.

They should cancel the entire Dark Universe. Hopefully this will teached Universal to make sure movies are good before starting a whole cinematic universe.

At least we've still got three seasons of Penny Dreadful.

At least we've still got three seasons of Penny Dreadful. I know right? Loved that show. That's the approach they should have gone with. The Universal Monsters work best as Gothic horror in some fashion, not this contemporary blockbuster crap.

Why does everything have to be a "cinematic universe" now?
Quite frankly, I am getting tired of this shared universe BS.
I hate the fact that studios want me to watch "Suicide Squad" on Blu-Ray, before I watch "Wonder Woman" on Blu-Ray, just so that I am sure that I don't miss anything and will understand some of the things that might be happening in a second film (or other sequels)...
OK... Well maybe, I might not have to watch "Suicide Squad"... To see "Wonder Woman"... but I've heard Batman, Wonderwoman, and The Flash make cameos in the movie. So eventually some sequel with reference this movie.
But that's not the point. I don't want "Suicide Squad" at all. It's like the Arrowverse shows on the CW... I didn't really want to watch "The Arrow". I just wanted to watch "The Flash" & "Supergirl". But, the shows feature crossovers, and when you buy the DVDs, they don't include the other parts as bonus episodes... So you have to buy the other shows too. So, I bought "The Arrow", and "Legends of Tomorrow" so that I can understand what is happening in the "Shared Universe" and so that I could see the other parts to the crossovers. I've enjoyed "Legends of Tomorrow", but I find "The Arrow" to be "Meh"... I'll still watch it though, when I am not watching the other shows. Same thing with THOR in MCU, and a couple other character films. I'm not really interested in them. But I have to watch them to understand what all is going on...
I never watched "Dracula Untold". I don't want to, and don't plan to. I really don't care for vampire films.
I saw "The Mummy" and was disappointed in more ways than one. I really didn't enjoy Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde subplot. For the first film should have just focused on "The Mummy", and it should have created a good foundation for the character, before doing more with it. It really didn't.
I would rather watch a stand alone film... and then if they want to, then does a shared film.
The Frankenstein franchise is my favorite of the classic movie monsters...
And I think the remake of "Bride of Frankenstein"... has a potential to be a great movie... if it is a stand alone film.
But after seeing the poor remake of "The Mummy", and this BS concerning "Shared Universes"... I am dreading the sad reality, that the film is going to be a serious letdown.
To hear that Universal has pulled the movie from it's schedule, sounds to me, like there might be hope. Perhaps they are going to rethink the movie, and drop the idea of it being in a "Shared Universe", at least in the short term, and just focus on making a good film.
Then if there is a sequel, you can set that one up for a "Shared Universe"
Just my two cents worth of an opinion...

Technically you are correct... But... If I recall right... The Characters only "MET" others, AFTER, they had their own films. I certainly don't remember Dracula being mentioned in the Frankenstein movie, or The Bride Of Frankenstein either... Which actually strengthens my argument.

Until he lost his goddamn mind ten years ago. he's exactly who i had on my mind but was afraid to say because of how his film career went after around 1999 or so. if he had cart blanche, time and a nice practical effects budget i think his style is perfect and usually has a great cast. only so many people have copied off his style and the style he has copied off of so much in the last 20 years that it isn't as impressive anymore.

That's true but when he's switched to his 'on' mode, he's still better than the rest. A Dracula or Frankenstein film in the vein of Sleepy Hollow would be cool.

I think that was supposed to be the next installment of their shared film universe of monster movies. A sign that the Dark Universe franchise is dead? Edit: "...After thoughtful consideration, Universal Pictures and director Bill Condon have decided to postpone "Bride of Frankenstein." (Christian Post) Frankly I'm surprised that "Bride of Frankenstein" stayed on the schedule as long as it did. First, "The Mummy" flopped at the domestic box office. Second, shouldn't they make "Frankenstein" before "Bride of Frankenstein"? The two original Frankenstein films were made in that order.

Why does everything have to be a "cinematic universe" now? In fairness the classic Universal Monsters did it first. Because studios think- wrongly - that cinematic universes = surefire money making machine. Now they're planing to make a Pacific Rim cinematic universe too.
