A bit of a stretch ain't it? There were other old-school action movies that were financial hits in the early 1990s that still had an '80s' feel to them like Under Siege and Demolition Man. Hell, his biggest rival Sylvester Stallone made Cliffhanger the same year and it was one of 1993's top grossing films. Bruce Willis was still doing his thing well into the late 1990s and Mel Gibson had two more Lethal Weapon movies. Bitter much, Arnold? TEXT: "...Don't forget that the year that movie came out it was the year to beat on Arnold. It was one of those things where President Clinton was elected and the press somehow made the whole thing kind of political where they thought, 'Okay, the '80s action guys are gone here's a perfect example,' and they wrote this narrative before anyone saw the movie." www.cinemablend.com/news/1716089/arnold-schwarzenegger-says-bill-clinton-is-to-blame-for-the-last-action-heros-failure

That's a movie that was too pretentious.
One big blunder was telling instead of showing.
The villain said he had got all these movie bad guys eager to come after Schwarzenegger's character--like King Kong and Dracula--and the best they could come up with was Bergman's Death?
AS was aware of Jurassic Park when filming it because he made a joke on set about them having their own Jurassic Park (the tar pits scene). They needed a better SPFX finale.

If Clinton had run on an anti-Dinosaur platform, Jurassic Park might have flopped. "These Raptors, they're carnivores, they're meat-eaters. Some, I assume, are peaceful."

Arnie is nuts--The public wasn't ready for a parody film, nothing to do with politics--I avoided the film until last year, but when I saw it I actually liked it--not a bad movie at all

I don't know what the hell he is talking about, but I do know Last Action Hero came out a week after Jurassic Park. Competing with a groundbreaking instant classic might have had something to do with it underperforming more so than some vague Bill Clinton conspiracy.

And all this time I thought it bombed because it's one of the stupidest big budget movies ever made.

Jurassic Park would have eclipsed the Second Coming.

Whatever the reason, it was still a kick-ass film.
Great soundtrack, too.
