Luckily no one was hurt. TEXT: A homemade bomb was detonated Thursday in the heart of Williamsburg, Va., near both the College of William & Mary and Colonial Williamsburg. Police arrested a suspect, who was charged with committing an act of terrorism, the city said Friday night. The bomb went off in Merchants Square, a shopping area between the college and Colonial Williamsburg, said a spokesman for Colonial Williamsburg, an area of restored and preserved buildings that functions as a living history museum. Deb Cheeseboro, the college’s police chief said no one was injured. There appeared to be no threat to the campus, she said. The city said Stephen Powers, 30, of Gloucester, Va. was arrested at his home by the Williamsburg police department and charged with possession of using an explosive device and committing an act of terrorism. No motive could be learned in the incident. www.washingtonpost.com/local/public-safety/bomb-goes-off-near-williamand-mary-colonial-williamsburg/2017/10/21/73ce5338-b610-11e7-be94-fabb0f1e9ffb_story.html?tid=ss_tw-amp&utm_term=.1e39fb3361fa#comments
