OMG. I'm glad you decided to post them. I've always wanted to partake in these activities, it seems like you had a great time, dressing in costumes and spending the weekend

It looks wonderful. I always love festivals and let me I can hold my own when it comes to alcohol.

Your photographs are very nice. However, Oktoberfest in German areas in the U.S., are much better.
Unfortunately with the way Germany is going, Oktoberfest will soon become Halalfest and the beer wenches will become burqa wenches.

Thanks for sharing, Elessar. I'm going to attend a "culinary week," in the south of France in the late summer. I hope to hone my picture-taking, and posting skills, between now and then.

I once joined a tour which passed by Munich closer to Oktoberfest. It wasn't the great festival yet -- but we were taken to a huge beerhall to get a feel of the kind of atmosphere that happens at Octoberfest. I was mildly shocked to see the huge ( as in HUGE!) beer tankards being served us by the fraus/frauleins... I chickened out and probably asked for something less alcoholic ... But the atmosphere was tops -- the band was superb...the singing in the hall by everyone was in all kinds of musical pitches. I even heard loud singing of "Ole! Ole! Ole!" ( sounds like a football crowd) and being answered with " Oi!Oi!Oi! ( Aussies??). It didn't matter whether we knew how to sing -- we were all belting at the top of our voice! Quite an experience! Until our tour guide led us out to our tour buses, after about 2 hours of drinking and carousing
