^ That reminded me of: Dr. Orloff, Jess Franco's recurring character in his different incarnations, especially when played by the late great Howard Vernon.

May I also give a mention to William Finley's terribly creepy Dr. Breton in De Palma's Sisters ('73)?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Dr. Challis from Halloween 3 played by the always awesome Tom Atkins.

Dr. Carl Stoner from "Sssssss" 1973. Played by Strother Martin. You just picked the mad scientist from my favorite '70s shlock flick.

Michael Gough plays the ghoulish Dr. Storm, using a health farm retreat (Hairy Holidays) as a front as he secretly performs lobotomy experiments on wayward hippies turning them into mindless zombie slaves. Horror Hospital (1973).

A Wise Choice. My favorite is Edward Van Sloan. He really disliked the part, but it is absolutely his defining role, and the biggest role on a film that I have seen him in.

I liked Frank Finlay's Van Helsing in the 77' BBC version.
Underrated actor Finlay was.
I guess I will go with the abominable Dr. Anton Phibes. Doctor of theology and music.

Dr. Caligari
I remember searching video stores for Dr Caligari as a kid. I had read about it in some cult or horror movie magazine and it sounded cool. Also that video cover.

Not a horror movie doctor, but this particular doctor is definitely one evil son of a bitch who specializes in extreme torture. I am of course referring to Dr. Clement Molloch in the Charles Bronson action thriller The Evil That Men Do.
