Lately I have been listening to this scene from near the end of “Sister Act” (1991). Whoppi Goldberg is a showgirl on the run from a mob hitman. She hides in a Catholic Church and then pretends to nun. She whips the church’s very inadequate choir of nuns into shape. Whoppi’s fake nun has a talent for finding pop songs that can pass for hymns and spirituals. When the Pope comes to visit they perform this number. I am still trying to plumb the various levels of comedy, seriousness, irony, and spirituality. Brilliant.

I really adore both these 2 clever " Sister Act films " and agree your song selection here is truly wonderful   .
