Great song choices there mszanadu. Have you got 'The Masterplan' (B Side collection) album 'Stay Young' is from? That is a great album and a lot of Oasis B-Sides were even better than the songs the record label let them put on their albums.

You're welcome Chalice. I thought you would like her being a fan of Michelle Branch and I know a number of other similar female Pop Rock singers if you are interested in hearing some of them and Liz Longley, Heather Maloney, Kate Voegele, Vanessa Carlton, Tina Dico, Marit Larsen, Colbie Caillat, Anna Nalick, Marion Raven, Lene Marlin, Chantal Kreviazuk, Bethany Joy Lenz, Meredith Brooks, Orianthi, Hey Monday and Jennifer Paige are worth listening to. I don't know if you are a fan of Alternative Rock bands with female singers but I know heaps of them and Letters to Cleo was one of my favs. Have you heard of Heather Nova and Plumb? I discovered Katharine McPhee watching American Idol and she was in the same season as Kellie Pickler, Chris Daughtry and Bucky Covington who all went on to release albums too and I watched 'Smash' and 'Scorpion' but they stopped airing 'Scorpion' on Channel 10 and that really annoyed me. Of the names you listed, DebLovesBeccy, I'd say that Colbie Caillat has been the one whose music I've been enjoying hearing the most lately, as they've been playing quite a few of her songs on one of the radio stations I flick to sometimes on my digital radio. These are a couple of the ones I like... I actually like quite a few alternative rock bands with female singers. As for Scorpion - it's still on (tonight in fact), but it's moved to One/Channel 1 now (ie. one of Channel 10's digital stations). Colbie Caillat is a great singer. I have all of her albums and have seen her in concert. They used to play her a lot on the Smooth Channel here but I haven't been watching that channel much lately. Did you know she was in a season of American Idol and they didn't even let her passed the auditions? I don't remember seeing her on the show but I can't believe they knocked her back now 'cause she has gone on to have more success as a singer and released more albums than a lot of the contestants that have won the show but they also turned down Hillary Lindsey Lindsey who you might know from Lady Antebellum, Kelly Ogden from the Dollyrots and Keith Semple from 7th Heaven. The Dollyrots actually went on to do a parody of American Idol in their music video for 'Because I'm Awesome' and I will post the video below so you can see it. There have been a lot of awesome Alternative Rock bands with female vocalists and the 90s and early 00s had some of the best of them and it is great to see some of them getting back together and releasing new albums and EPs. I didn't 'Scorpion' was back on One. That is soo annoying!! I have been waiting ages for it to come back and only checking Channel 10 and Eleven 'cause I didn't think they would move it to One and Channel 10 and Eleven are on Foxtel and when you go to the title search you can see all the upcoming programs that are going to be on the channels for the next two-three weeks. One used to only be a sports channel but I did notice they were starting to add more scripted TV shows to their schedule but I never thought they would put 'Scorpion' on there. How long has the show been back and was it on One last year too? We are going to have to get the seasons that we have missed on DVD 'cause I think we would be really behind with it now and the last time we watched it was when they had it on Channel 10 before the remake of 'MacGyver.'

Liz Longley - Outta My Head
Peace of Mind
(Both from the album, 'Liz Longley' ) Thanks for posting those^ two songs, DebLovesBeccy. I liked them quite a bit. As for Scorpion, we just got episode 16 of Season 4 here on the Sunday that's just gone by. I'm not sure when the show made the shift to there, but they now have it on a Sunday and MacGyver (the new one) on Saturday. It *is* really annoying when the channels take shows off, then put them back on a different day/time/channel (though I still think Nine was way worse with this, as they did all that plus they'd put new episodes on and then repeats and then more new ones, then take shows off, move them to different days/times, and worst of all...they edit out stuff from episodes). Back on topic - this is another song I've been hearing a fair bit lately that I really like...

Unfortunately DebLovesBeccy I don't have that album as of yet but it has been on my list for quite some time now . This Oasis song and these others here I posted were off of this fine movie soundtrack . The Faculty movie soundtrack listing & info - WikipediaI did buy this on CD a few years ago and it was worth every penny ( IMPO ) . However I do have a few other fine albums on CD from Oasis too ( these I highly recommend also ) . Definitely Maybe 1994 (What's the Story) Morning Glory? 1995Be Here Now 1997 Thanks so much DebLovesBeccy for your Oasis album recommendation and for your reply too . PS - I really hope you are feeling better now from that awful flu you had recently too .

WHOA Chalice_Of_Evil !! That's so amazing I actually thought of this wonderful song about 2 days ago . I was going to put up this one myself but got sidetracked and forgot about it . Thanks so much for putting up this fine yet memorable song selection here too . That's an interesting coincidence, mszanadu. Speaking of coincidences, the other night I was watching the recording of something where characters were knocking out the power in a street, and just as they did so and said, "Power's out, lights are off." we lost power in *our* street (it was off for an hour or so, but back on in time for my recorder to record the shows I'd set it for - which was just as well, as one of them was a season final. I've previously missed a season final of a show due to power outage, which was rather annoying). back on topic, I really like the song 'DreamWeaver', though I think the beginning part is my favourite. It just sounds so 'moody' (and even slightly eerie, but also dream-like). The rest of the song's good too, of course, but I like the beginning (before the actual singing starts) the best. Another example of this is 'One Night in Bangkok'. For me, the beginning part is the best, before it switches gears. And one more example of where I like the beginning (and in this case, the end too) the best out of the whole song is 'Golden Brown'. Though I really like the entirety of that^ one. 'Baby Come Back' has been played quite a bit in at least one commercial here in recent memory. So sorry to read here Chalice_Of_Evil about your electric home power going out at just the wrong time too of course . I totally understand that and had a few similar incidents like this around last year during that last big hurricane too ( so totally inconvenient indeed ) . As for these wonderful song selections I totally agree the song " Golden Brown " and " Dreamweaver " are so perfectly created indeed . I'm definitely into the whole harpsichord sound ( like with the song " Golden Brown " of course ) especially integrated with the 1970's & 80's music . It definitely has the timeless feel of the great composers of the old times as well . I also have this fine song on a European CD Compilation that I bought over a decade ago . It has a lot of other great songs and musical artists on it also . Also the other 1980's exotic song " One Night in Bangkok " to me always had the feel of a " 007 James Bond movie theme song " too . Thanks so much Chalice_Of_Evil for your reply .

On a nostalgic trip today, apparently. This is one of the few bands from my nu-metal days I can still vibe with.

Back on topic - this is another song I've been hearing a fair bit lately that I really like... You're welcome. Liz Longley is very talented and underrated. I discovered her a few years ago on a site that has the latest albums by independent artists and after hearing 'Peace of Mind' I had to get the album. Then I found out she had three previous albums and an EP and I bought them on I Tunes too. She has gone on to release another album since then called 'Weightless' and I will post the music video for the single from that below. I am hoping she releases another album soon but there are a lot of talented independent artists around at the moment especially in the Singer/Songwriter genre and I don't know if you have I Tunes but it has a 'Singer/ Songwriter' section and I have discovered a lot of great new female singers looking on there and have bought their albums. I think if Liz Longley had released her self titled album in the mid to late 90s she would have been huge 'cause that type of music was very popular back then with singers like Jewel, Heather Nova, Aimee Mann, Lisa Loeb, Paula Cole, Fiona Apple, Shawn Colvin, Sarah McLachlan, Sophie B Hawkins etc. I loved those artists and all of them have inspired me as a songwriter.
It is annoying when they take shows off and put them on other channels without telling anybody and what is even more annoying is when they don't air them for years like Channel 7 did with 'Once Upon A Time' and they randomly put it back on out of the blue on their 7Flicks channel after it was on their main channel before. I have given up on watching some TV shows on 7, 9 and 10 'cause they take them off for extended periods of time and just put them back on without warning anybody. 'Arrow' was annoying to watch when it was on Channel 9 right before they moved it to Foxtel 'cause they changed the time and days around and ohh, don't even get me started on 'Gotham' when it was on Channel 9. The fact it become the most illegally downloaded show in Australia that year was all Channel 9's fault and when they hold shows off they don't just hold them off but stop them from being released on DVD here.

PS - I really hope you are feeling better now from that awful flu you had recently too . Ohh. Okay. I am sorry to hear you haven't got the album yet mszanadu but I think when you get it you will find it well worth the price 'cause it is one of their best album (if not their best) in my opinion and I am surprised they never released another B-Sides collection 'cause there were lots of other great B-Sides Oasis released that weren't on any of their albums like these three below. I was a big fan of Oasis in the 90s and 00s and while Liam and Noel were known for having bad reputations I think they (especially Noel) were very talented as singers and songwriters and I played 'Definitely Maybe' and '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?) so many times I wore the albums out and I had to buy them again. I also loved 'Be Here Now' and 'Standing On the Shoulder of Giants' and 'Sunday Morning Call' and 'Where Did It All Go Wrong' were some of my favourites off the latter even though Noel doesn't like them anymore. Noel is an oddball though and sometimes he hates a song and then he likes it again. There is a DVD with all their music videos that Noel does commentary on and makes fun of all the music videos and it is hilarious and half the time he is wondering what the directors of their videos were thinking 'cause some of their music videos had nothing to do with the songs. There were 3CD set re-releases of 'Definitely Maybe', '(What's the Story) Morning Glory' and 'Be Here Now' a few years ago that have a lot of B-sides and unreleased material they recorded when they were making those albums and they are worth checking. Anyways, I have probably given you enough Oasis things to catch up on now but I loved the band and hope they get back together one day with the original lineup.
