I just had to add this version (also live, but superbly enhanced) of Dougie MacLean's "Ready for the Storm"--I left the previous one up for those who might prefer a simpler rendition.

Yeah, I just searched up the band and saw that the song the Darkest Side of the Night was not released until 2000 (on an album). That is a long wait, and I might have to check further into this release, as I do like their sound so maybe they have similar songs as well. Anyway, thanks for all of the information about Metropolis. Oh yeah, that is a great one. Love Alice Cooper and he was the perfect sound for the Friday the 13th franchise. Again, a great feel-good tone to it and very catchy. I am quite suprised to learn how poor it did on the music charts (according to Wikipedia), this one should have been a bigger hit, as sure sounded like a hit single. Another great Alice Cooper 80s movie song, well not a horror film but it do kind of have a bit of that horror vibe to it, as the film dealt with things which at that time were seen as "unrealistic", but in fact it sadly saw what was coming in the near future of american schools and the increased violence. Class of 1984 is a great cult-film and I think Alice and his song I Am the Future perfectly captures the films message and theme: It did sound like it should have been a hit but I think one of the reasons it wasn't was 'cause it came out before 'Poison.' While Alice Cooper had some hits out around the same time like 'Freedom' and 'Teenage Frankenstein' which were on the 'Constrictor' and 'Raise Your Fist and Yell' albums they weren't that successful and 'Poison' and the 'Trash' album are generally considered to be his big comeback and 'Poison' took Alice back up to the top of the charts for the first time since the 70s. If 'He's Back' had been released after 'Poison' it probably would have been a bigger hit 'cause his following singles benefited from it. Did you know Alice Cooper appeared in 'A Nightmare On Elm Street 6' and played Freddy's Father? I have collected a lot of songs from Horror movies over the years and 80s Horror movies had some great songs and I liked Dokken's 'Dream Warriors', The Divinyl's 'Backs to the Wall', Dramarama's 'Anything, Anything', Go West's 'Don't Be Afraid of Your Dreams', Tuesday Knight's 'Nightmare' and The Goo Goo Dolls 'I'm Awake Now' which were all in the 'Nightmare On Elm Street' movies and I loved Tuesday Knight's solo album and am surprised she didn't make it bigger as a singer. Here is the Goo Goo Dolls 'I'm Awake Now' which has Freddy Kreuger in the video.

That sounds about right. Kinda "sad" that it took so long before the man finally got his "credit where credit is due" comeback. A year or two back, I decided to go through some of his earlier 80s releases and they just did not have that one big sounding and catchy number on them, which Poison surely was to be, and maybe Alice or his record company should have tried to re-release He's Back when he was on the brink of success again. Would probably have charted much higher a second time around. No, that was new to me, as I think actually I have not seen (or it is so long I cannot remember anylonger) that he had a part in part 6 of the A Nightmare On Elm Street franchise. Have been planning on going through the entire series again, but I will probably wait until around summertime, watching summer slashers during cold winter time, it is just not the same. Thanks for the heads up, I sure will be on the look out (this time) for Alice and his part. Also, I agree that the horror films of the 80s/early 90s had some terrific songs either written for them or which would be picked for that special film or movie scene, and that is something which I do miss with most modern horror titles, the music/soundtrack are too often "forgettable/random" in a way where I rarely remembers any music that featured in them. Speaking of great mix of horror films/music, I think it is a real shame that Alice Cooper and his fantastic song Wind-Up Toy were never used in any of the Child's Play films, and along with the beautiful ballad (also from the Hey Stoopid album) Might As Well Be On Mars should have been released as singles, as I think they are among his best songs from the late 80s and early 90s.
