Probably Kirk Douglas, but I have a soft spot for James Griffith in Masterson of Kansas, which predates Kirk by a few years.

It's not a fair fight. Kilmer gave a very modern and stylized performance in what is essentially the "Pulp Fiction of Westerns." You should've left him off the list. Then why isn't it a landslide so far?
