You really think just by backing off a bit it'll create more tension and really amp up how epic the whole thing feels? Ridiculous. ... Okay, maybe they could've peppered in a few more wide shots. Well, I think it would help in allowing the audience to see the choreography/fight. It's like dance, I want to see what's happening with their bodies. With the lightsaber fights, I want to see the swordsmanship too. Sure. It's a valid criticism that I think applies on a sliding scale to the prequel stuff. When we do see the swordsmanship, though, it's pretty awesome.

It really isn't the choreography of the Prequel duels that sits wrong with me, it's that they sacrifice drama and story for technical wizardry.
I mean the prime example is the end duel of Sith for me. That's meant to be the entire capper to the whole trilogy and it just goes on way too long, there's not much emotional weight to it and it feels more like Anakin and Obi Wan are showing off than trying to fight to the death. The best original trilogy duels of ESB and ROTJ may be less spectacular, but they are telling a story, feel brutal in parts and just perfect. Substance over style.

I prefer the PT duels, but it's so close. The Maul vs. Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan duel, the Anakin vs. Dooku duel (in both AOTC and ROTS), and the Anakin vs. Obi-Wan duel are incredible to me. I think William's score nearly made me tear up during the final duel in ROTS, yet the duel itself is sometimes cringeworthy, which is a testament to how great the music is. It's just very watchable and lovable to me.
The OT had one spectacular duel with Vader vs. Luke in ESB, but the others were just okay. It's very close for me though.

This is my favorite OT duel by far, too.
