Damn right. Love that flick, and it never gets made today. Middle school kids smoke cigarettes, spy on girls while they're changing, wander the neighborhood unattended at all hours and make bullets in metal shop; the B plot (that never goes anywhere and has no purpose at all) features an impending divorce by chain smoking parents who constantly scream at each other; Dracula grabs a four year old girl by the throat and calls her a bitch. So basically it's my crew when we were 10-12 years old.

I can only assume it's the stuff I listed above. That stuff isn't really acceptable as children's fare anymore, and adults probably want more hardcore horror for Halloween. It really was a product of its time. A kid calls another kid a gay slur; you're never going to see that on film again. The monsters are campy but it's realistic in that the kids are all generally shitty to each other, even the ones who are supposed to be friends.

Ever play the Friday the 13th NES game? I could beat it in 12 minutes without losing a single counselor or any children. (And surprisingly enough, that's not the line I used at parties to get laid.)

best entrance ever - i.e. the first time you see him goes to Leatherface. haunting. the musical score towards the end when he shuts the door is eerie and haunting.......
