The premise of FUN WITH DICK & JANE 1977 (a marriage thinks that stealing is the only way to solve their money problems) can be adjusted for any time period depending on the state of the economy. That's why FUN WITH DICK & JANE 2005 is a relevant remake: It takes place in a time period where many companies were embezzling their employees and/or filing for bankruptcy. Some scenes made me think that this version is smarter than the original, while others made me think that it's dumber. I did laugh a lot, but the tone is very uneven.
