It's surprising given today's film environment but I'm glad they've laid off. Goonies in particular. I don't think a remake of that film would work in the 2010's. There was something special about the 1980's. Die Hard would be hard to remake too, everyone has cellphones. (unless the bad guys had some kind of jamming device).

...of those movies listed, I've only seen Die Hard and it doesn't need to be remade...I don't care about the others...

Back to the Future isn't going to get remade as long as Robert Zemeckis is alive, and he has even told his estate and lawyers to keep on fighting agaist any remake attempts after he's dead. He just hates the idea. I mean, he really hates it.
Gremlins isn't likely to happen since the studio that owns the rights doesn't seem to give a shit about that movie. Joe Dante has wanted to make Gremlins 3 many times but it got turned down by the studio every time.

Although this reason hasn't stopped other remakes, it could be because no remake could stand up to comparison with the originals, however skillfully the new films were made. This is the sad lesson that the recent "Ghostbusters" should have taught the studios.

Goonies. Would rather see the long-rumored sequel than a remake.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Didn't like the original, so don't care.
Back to the future. Can't improve on perfection.
The Breakfast Club. Same as Ferris Bueller (I'm not much of a Hughes fan).
Gremlins. The sequel flopped (unfairly IMHO), so another sequel or remake is highly unlikely.
Flash Dance. The first one was only meh.
Die Hard. The last two sequels were just pale imitations, so why bother?
Mannequin. Seriously?

I'm sure someone suggested it for most of these. My guess is they were either scared shitless because some of these you cannot recapture lightning in a bottle twice (Die Hard, Back to the Future, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off) while others I'm thinking they couldn't figure out what to bring new to the table (Goonies, Gremlins, Mannequin, Flash Dance).

I think they prefer ones that have a fantasy element.
Gremlins I suspect will be remade at some point.
Back to the Future as well, but it would likely be a remake in title only. They tend to be so specific to the era they were made also.
Die Hard would require more than just a cop in a building held hostage by criminals. And they have been doing sequels right up to the present so it has to be out of circulation for sequels to even be considered for a remake.

I don't want Back to the Future or The Breakfast Club to be remade.

If they can do it to Ghostbusters, Footloose, Poltergeist, Fright Night, The Hitcher, Karate Kid, Mad Max, etc then I don't see why not.
Big would also be good for a remake.

I've always thought a Gremlins movie remake could be good, but only if they made it more of a horror movie... Just make it more like the Twilight Zone story though (The "Demon" Gremlin version from TZ The Movie, of course) Something like this. Gremlins from another dimension slowly start to enter our reality. A Gremlin causes a plane crash. The NTSB can't figure it out. Then another Gremlin causes a plane to crash. The NTSB still can't figure it out, and starts to wonder if they should ground the flights...
Then, a Gremlin tries to cause a third plane crash, but a passenger stops him and saves the plane. (See Plot For The Twilight Zone)
The NTSB now knows about the Gremlins, and grounds all flights... But now, with the dimensional rip fully open, the Gremlins now start damaging everything... Now the government must find a way to stop the gremlins, and close the rift.

I saw it in the theater. For some reason my Mom wanted to see it.

Gremlins seems ripe for a remake because they could have cute CGI gizmos and gremlins with a ton of merchandising possibilities. They would have to make it as kid friendly as possible.

Because it's not necessary for them to be remade. How about Hollywood make movies that are original for a change, instead of remakes and reboots.

Mad Max Fury Road was no remake it was a retcon sequel that ignores the third movie and it was great. Ghostbusters, Poltergeist, Fright Night, Hitcher, Karate Kid failed miserably as they are proof you can't strike lightning in a bottle twice. Even GBs and Poltergeist flopped at the box-office and proof you need to leave a classic alone. I don't see the point of remaking Gremlins (you just can't bet practical effects), Die Hard, Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller, Goonies as you can't strike lightning twice since some movies of the 80s are totally creative and all that made by talents you can't replicate. Now Basket Case is one that can use a remake and so can CHUD. Just find an unloved or unpopular 80s movie and remake it.
