She believes Wonder Woman will be nominated for Best Picture. I want to marry this woman, she's smoking hot. Does anyone know if she's married and dating somebody, because if she's not, I'm coming for you Grace.

Deleted member eh? Was he banned or something? He self-deleted after you removed his insults towards me on the "Really That Bad: Batman v Superman" topic. He asked what else I wanted, and I said just stop throwing insults at me. Then he sarcastic asked (or I thought he was being sarcastic) if he should just delete his account if it'd make me happy. I said, "I wouldn't shed any tears."

another reasonable and nuanced assessment by Randolph. I agree mostly and I think that Ladybird might seriously be the nom and win killer for Jenkins as director; but on the other side if she still gets accolades, sexists and MCU fanboys cannot invoke their embarrassing just-bc-she-got-a-vagina narrative again (as they constantly do).

Tell that to formersahahahsbad I do not have the argumentative boosters to get through to him, he is just too ashamed of female led graphic novels. To be fair, I did not even think specifically of sam when writing this. We have worse ararchraptors in the forum belfry.

I think so too. Irony being that the more vitriol the haters spray, the more likely it will happen. Movie karma.

If it does get nominations, they shouldn't try to overreach and seem greedy (cue warning falling on WB's deaf ears). Something like best music or score would suffice. I loved the movie but it didn't leave the same impact on me as The Dark Knight did nor can I see it garnering the same stature that film enjoys. If it does score a Best Picture nod, I can easily see a backlash a la Avatar happening.

I can't even force myself to hate watch this probably incredibly obnoxious video. It's certified fresh: 7/10 (better than Fragglerock).
Critics' Consensus: A clever analysis based on facts, common sense and experience. The presenter goes through all categories and assesses the chances vis-a-vis this year's competition. Most clever output on the subject so far.
But of course if you do not want to hear this, and hate Grace's performances, I recommend not to watch.

I think Grace Randolph is right about Wonder Woman getting a Best Picture Oscar nomination.
MCU fans who are in full panic mode try to dismiss it by saying "Well, no superhero movie has ever been nominated for a Best Picture Oscar nomination". But 10 years ago, we could also say "Well, no African-American has ever been elected POTUS".
Before 2008, movie studios weren't releasing multiple superhero movies per year and the few superhero movies that were released didn't have much of an audience outside of comic book fans. But in 2008, The Dark Knight became the 1st superhero movie to draw in large numbers of non-comic book fans. The Academy even changed the rules for the Best Picture category because of The Dark Knight.
And now, movie studios are often releasing multiple superhero movies per year and the CBM genre has become a major genre within the industry. And with the maximum number of Best Picture nominations increased from 5 to 10, Wonder Woman is very likely to get a Best Picture Oscar nomination.
When Obama ran for POTUS in 2008, millions of people who had been eligible to vote in previous Presidential elections but never voted before registered to vote and cast their vote for Obama because they wanted to be part of history. And like Grace Randolph pointed out in her video, Wonder Woman is a historic movie so many Academy voters will feel they rather be part of history than stand in the way of history.

But the campaign for thor 3 and gotg really shows just how much marvel is obsessed with trying to outsmart everyone regardless of the lack of quality in their movies, they are lunching Oscar campaigns because DC is doing so with wonder woman. So they will likely cancel each other out.

Actually, the desperation of MCU to try to match DC by getting an Oscar will help Wonder Woman even more because when the Academy sees the kiddie comedies that MCU is trying to promote as Oscar material and compare that to the vastly superior movie that Wonder Woman is, it'll make Wonder Woman look even more outstanding.
