When I first looked at Romanis I was kind of stunned as their facial features resemble facial features of people from northwestern part of India. Lately there has been growing evidence that link Romanis to Indians. It seems to me that these are Indian people who migrated toward middle east and reached as far as Europe at different points of time.

Did you really have some connection with Romanis from your grandmother side or it was some one else who mentioned that?

I think I remember reading somewhere once, that it is believed that the Romany people are descended from the Dhalit caste in India. Since they were having such a harsh life in India, they decided to migrate abroad. |

I'm 1/4 Romani. My maternal grandmother was Romani. She was shunned by her relatives for years for marrying outside the community. |
