It'll be longer than that before I get around to watching it.

I was feverishly excited for TFA to come out, and I initially loved it. I have since come to see it for what it is - a fun but lazy nostalgia-pandering cash grab. On the bright side, it's nice not being obsessed over TLJ's release. Sure, I'll get excited when I finally see it, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up thinking it's OK at best. And before TLJ releases, I hear Rian's already getting his own brand new SW trilogy. My concern with SW directors continue...

I was never as mehxited for a new SW saga film as with this, but that's more to do with TFA than with TLJ. Still the fact that there is no new creative output, such as ships desogns etc , just the same old again with some new rectangular radar dishes, doesn't help.
Yeah sorry, forgot about them Porgs, yeah there's that...see y'all at thd theater anyway.

And before TLJ releases, I hear Rian's already getting his own brand new SW trilogy. My concern with SW directors continue... Where'd you hear this? This is fantastic news. I can only hope it means they will tackle some of the historic broad ideas that would require a trilogy, like any of the schisms in the Old Republic or the Sith Wars. Preferably that second schism where the Sith originate, but I'll take a Bane-heavy Jedi-Sith War trilogy just the same.

Could be good, but I sure would appreciate some pre-prequel trilogy films.

"Johnson will pair with longtime collaborator-producer Ram Bergman for the trilogy, which according to Deadline, will take place in a different galaxy with original characters and a new story line. Release dates for the trilogy have not yet been announced." A different galaxy? Not a different time period? How is it still "Star Wars" if it's not in the same galaxy? ^_-

Now that I think about it, unless they contradicted the previous films, how would I know the difference between "a different galaxy" and "another corner of the (same) galaxy"?

Release dates for the trilogy have not yet been announced." A different galaxy? Not a different time period? How is it still "Star Wars" if it's not in the same galaxy? ^_- Yeah, see, I'm reading all the canon books (reading Catalyst now, still need to read Phasma, Thrawn, Inferno Squad and that new Leia book, otherwise, I've covered them all since TFA released), I'm trying to watch the cartoons, I come to this site and every once in a while I get sucked into the theory videos on youtube, but I otherwise don't consume all the stuff that you guys seem to consume. I don't follow SW news, tweets, etc., nor do I visit any other boards or sites. What I find out about SW buzz, I usually read here, otherwise, I'm just trying to stick to the actual fiction itself. But yeah, bummer. There are effective ways to tell a story about another galaxy and have it still be SW. For instance, that galaxy ends up having a conflict with the SW galaxy or it's our galaxy and we find out how humans on earth relate to the SW galaxy. You're right, though, if the SW galaxy isn't involved somehow, then they shouldn't call it Star Wars. But I guess I'm more bummed out about the fact that there's a new trilogy being made that isn't an historic look at either the Jedi or the Sith or both.
