If we had been stuck with Lucas shit, we'd have had to wait until 2027 until the ST finally ended and that'd be it. No anthology films and likely no episodic films after the ST. Yeah, no thanks. I'll take my chances with Disney shit. At least there's a movie to look forward to every year. On top of that, the script for TFA absolutely annihilated the scripts from the PT and we don't get stuck with child and tween acting for two-thirds of the trilogy like we did in the PT. So far, Disney did to Star Wars what Hendrix did to Dylan's Watchtower. There's Dylan fans out there who think Hendrix ruined that tune, too. <smh>

I'd rather them not give us any more SW films than come out with what they did. Life was good, we didn't need them to sell us shit and tell us it was a brownie.

And this is where I run afoul of the TFA hater. If you'd rather not have them give you any more SW films, then don't go watch Episodes VIII through XXIV over the course of the rest of your life. See, the great thing about your desire is that it is still within your control to get exactly what you want. You don't like the Disney stuff? Then pretend it doesn't exist. Go grab your Dark Horse comics and your Mara Jade novels and keep living in that EU galaxy. No one is stopping you. Palpatine can keep on being reborn in clones until you yourself die. For the rest of us (most SW fans by the way), life was not good. We were largely disappointed that Lucas took so damn long to make the PT in the first place and who the hell knows if he ever would have actually produced the ST. For the rest of us, we want a new Star Wars movie every year. Because Star Wars is awesome and most of those post-ROTJ novels sucked ass anyway quite frankly, or at least the ones I read did.

It was a sloppy, contrived rewrite of ANH. It was piecemealed with a "where's Waldo" side story of searching for Luke. And the introductory story of a Disney warrior princess arrives in the SW universe. The only reason it was successful was because it was a copy of ANH. And because it catered to Disney princess fans. With an overwhelming amount of gaudy fan service on both counts. And it worked. In other words it got a lot of people to ignore a badly contrived and lore sloppy story.

Dude, you need to calm down.. Life isn't all about what you want. If you're this concerned about sci fi franchise you should revaluate your priorities. I enjoy sci fi too and I enjoy Trek and Wars and long as there's consistency. The new JJ Trek isn't consistent and this Disney princess fan pandering SW is even worse. It was all unnecessary. We had a complete story/saga, life was fine, you weren't dying from lack of continuation. The EU existed, there were some TV series. I can complain about and dissect this crap movie all I want. I enjoy reveling in the fact that others saw this for what it is as well. Initially my friends were happy for more SW, but slowly they all recognized it for the poor imitation it is. Some still enjoy it despite that fact, but they're now less interested in the franchise then ever. You're right, I don't have to see this, and I won't. Blame them for sucking me in with a fantastic trailer. Totally deceived me. I went in wide eyed. Left disappointed and frustrated by the choices they made with regards to story and continuity. Just means they've lost me as a consumer. I'll steal their shit though.

These aren't the characters we were looking for... we mind tricked ourselves!? WHY!? its not disney that drives the sequels , its Lucasfilm , pretty much the same people that were involved in the OT and the PT , you praise the prequels yet slate the sequels? do you like the taste of your own dick or something ? at the end of the day your just butthurt that the majority of fans like the films that have been released so far, and im glad that pisses you off

There's a jarring contrast in the way TFA is paced, the way it's plot driven, and the way it's got ridiculously shallow character arcs compared to the PT or OT. If you can't see that, then we'll never get anywhere.
If I were butthurt I'd be calling you names and insulting people who enjoy it. I'm pretty confident 99% of my insults are at the movie and it's creators.

With an overwhelming amount of gaudy fan service on both counts. And it worked. In other words it got a lot of people to ignore a badly contrived and lore sloppy story. I'm just being honest here. I liked it better than ANH. I hated Disney before they got involved with SW. I hate Disney princesses. I hate Pixar and Dreamworks animated films also. So I liked the script neither because it paid homage to ANH, nor did I like it because it catered to some sort of interest in warrior princesses. I, for one, don't believe anyone can fully analyze the lore portion of TFA's script yet. I've always said that the story portion will rely on its resolution. No, the reason I, like a lot of other people, preferred TFA's script over any PT script is because it was witty, the dialogue was sharp and paced well, it provided far fewer cringe moments (for me), and it unveiled a complete array of interesting emotional depth, touching on betrayal, loneliness, revenge, nostalgia, sacrifice. Most importantly, it showed us what life shows us, or, as Chinua would have said: Things Fall Part. I loved the direction that Han and Leia's relationship had gone in and, as a father, I really really liked Han's motivations to confront his son even though he knew from the moment Leia suggested it that he was a dead man. And I really really really loved the fact that in his moment of death, he still saw a son he loved. No matter what. It was easily the most touching moment in any SW film to date. But I'm a father, so maybe that kind of stuff didn't resonate with some people like it did me. And while I wouldn't say that I loved Rey's character, I'd say that she beats the hell out of the PT's Anakin Skywalker (not the Anakin of the EU, mind you, but that THING that we got in the PT was one of the worst lead characterizations I've ever witnessed in a movie). Sure, I don't really like Finn all that much. Dameron was just okay. BB8 was good. Maz was good. Snoke was really good. Kylo Ren - jury's out, but signs point to good (couple cringe-worthy moments, I'll admit...."You need a teacher!"....."Traitor!", etc.). All in all, I thought the new leads were decent and the new supporting characters were very strong. Those are the reasons I enjoyed TFA's script.

And no, I wasn't happy AT ALL with the SW material coming out. Listen, I love to read and I have a pretty big book and comic book collection. But as fun as a SW book can be, it just doesn't compare AT ALL with the big screen. SW was meant - particularly - for the big screen. And the fact is, until Disney bought the franchise, SW on the big screen was dead. Now it's alive. So for the first time in my life, I praise Disney.

I'll steal their shit though. Also, this shows just how strong your anti-ST convictions are. "ITSUCKS!ITSUCKS!ITSUCKS!ITSUCKS!ITSUCKS!ITSUCKS!ITSUCKS!ITSUCKS!" (but I'm still going to watch it).
