First let me say I loved the movie. I'm also fine with the humor (mostly) and don't think it detracted from the more serious events in the movie. But there was one thing that just irritated the hell out of me: Thor screaming like a girl and begging like a wuss.
The first is when he goes through that whole virtual introduction to Sakaar and The GM and he starts screaming his head off in the end. The other is when he begs Stan Lee not to cut his hair. It was so out of character that it completely threw me off. It wasn't that funny either. There were a few scattered laughs in my theater but mostly it seemed like it was just polite laughter. Thor screaming I might have been able to look past but the whole begging thing was just way off character and plain awkward.

Im fairly sure that was improvised, probably by Hemsworth himself. It was cringeworthy for sure.

There was also that part where the Grandmaster melted that guy in front of him. He's Thor, he must be used to seeing dead bodies of all kinds by now.

That was even more cringeworthy than the haircut bit. I mean, I love the humor in the MCU, but so far all of the humor has been more or less in-line with the character's personality. This is the first one I recall a character going completely out of character just to get some laughs. It's.... disturbing. Edit. Actually I take that back, some of Drax's humor in GotG2 was a bit out of character, but still nothing as out of sync as Thor's in this

That's what I meant by some of the humor was rather generic "Isn't it funny when a strong guy screams?" Why would Thor scream at a roller coaster? He's fricken jumping from ship to ship AS HE DID IN AVENGERS. Or jumping out the window knowing Mjolnir would arrive in the 2nd movie. Smell? He is upset by the smell of burnt toast? He's fought all sorts of creatures, some certainly smelly. What about those horrible creatures he mentioned in Avengers? Continuity, people. Someone is supposed to check. Actually with Whedon it was knocking Asgardians off camera. He said he lived it. Probably issues with how gorgeous they are.

Well in all fairness the target audience probably screams and cries a lot so they like seeing a "hero" who does the same.

scabab , poelzig is insulting us again. Didn't you say that you had put him on ignore? He's not insulting anyone in particular here but yes I would rather he not put down an entire audience of people nor provoke people again.
