So here's what I think is going on with the reported Hulk character arc taking place through Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Avengers 4.
1. We already know that Banner has woken up to realize he was stranded for two years inside the Hulk on a foreign planet where he was rescued by Thor. But he doesn't how exactly he got there. 2. I suspect his arc will lead Hulk to discover that after his destructive rampage through Africa where Iron Man had to take him down, a secret plan was made involving Tony and General Ross who was acting on behalf of the US Government, and perhaps others. 3. The plan was if Hulk was ever isolated, say, in a Quinn Jet, that they would remote pilot the ship somewhere remote, like space. It just so happened that once he was off planet he wound up in a wormhole leading him to Sakaar. 4. Upon discovering this, he of course revolts, and how this plays into the events of Infinity War I have no idea, but there will be a modified version of World War Hulk play out with Valkarie, Korg, and Meik on his side. It might be the case that this side battle is responsible for Thanos initially winning the completed Infinity Gauntlet and setting up the desperate need to reclaim it from him. 5. Since we don't know Valkarie's name, and we saw the more traditional blonde Valkarie character, I'm going to go ahead and say that her name was withheld on purpose and it will turn out to be Caiera, who ends up being able to calm Bruce down and they become a couple. 6. In addition, somewhere through this, Hulk's intelligence will continue to grow and the two personalities will largely merge, seemingly making Bruce correct that Banner won't come back. It becomes a third personality, all the intelligence of Banner and all the power of Hulk.
What do you think? Do you see a completely different arc playing out? Does this one sound reasonable?

I like the idea of Hulk's interference accidentally helping Thanos;build on from the brashness demonstrated in the scene where he immediately attacks Surtur in Thor: Ragnarok.

But underneath it all they could be laying out a Banner VS Hulk concept as well. Or a merger. I don't even know where to start with this, they could go so many different directions.

I think it'll be more of a character arc than a complex conspiracy plot.

I think it'll be more of a character arc than a complex conspiracy plot. Honestly I think you're right. But it's definitely about the relationship of banner and the hulk, possibly splitting or merging them, or both.

Part of me will miss Banner if he vanishes within Hulk, though if his intellect can be retained I'll be good with it. Not sure how canon that is, all's I know about the Hulk is passive super aggressive.
