Anyone watched this? I first learned of it from a spoof done on David Letterman-the Chris Elliot Jr. show and clips from Entertainment Tonight.
Then it started being aired late night.
"Pablum puking Liberal."
It was a ridiculous show--but he did put on all kinds of controversial arguments.
One time he said if he was a warden in a prison where they started a fire he would fly over in a helicopter and drop gasoline on it.
He agreed to appear on Phil Donahue's show and so Donahue had to appear on his.
There was one episode where he found the most sickly vegans he could find (this was the first place I heard the word) and he insulted this poor woman so badly, she looked completely stunned.
Then he claimed he was attacked by neo-nazis and they carved a swastika in his forehead, but it was backwards, consistent with someone doing it in a mirror.
I couldnt believe how BRIEF his 15 minutes of fame were when I looked at the duration of his show--only 2 years. He seemed like he was all over the news.
"Zip it!"

"MORT!MORT!MORT!" This type of show might be a big hit if they brought it back, given the current hysterical cultural climate.

Morty Jr. was basically Alex Jones.
Joe Pyne pioneered the genre.
Morty Jr., for a time, owned a team in the old ABA.

Joe Pyne pioneered the genre. Indeed, he did.

I watched the documentary they did a while back; it aired on CNN. It was called Evocateur: The Morton Downey Jr. Movie.

Don't forget that Rebecca De Mornay's late father also did this. Wally George! I was surprised he was her father almost as much as I was when I found out Jennifer Jason Leigh's father was Vic Morrow.
