Anybody here like turkey necks? You often see them in the meat department this time of the year as we get close to Turkey Day (i.e., Thanksgiving). I was at the meat department at a local grocery store the other day and I asked if they were going to be putting out the giblet packages soon, and the butcher told me he wasn't sure, but he did say they were going to be putting out turkey necks.
I like the whole giblet pack - which includes neck, liver and the gizzards - but necks alone are good, too. In fact, I love slow-cooked turkey necks. I just simmer them in a covered skillet with some water, butter, salt, herb and garlic seasoning (standard poultry seasoning works fine), maybe a splash of white wine. Or, you can slow roast them in the oven, too, seasoned to taste.
