If The LEGO Batman Movie is any indication, people are sick of the the character. He’s had more movies and TV shows, animated or otherwise, than any other comic book character, and its clear that interested in him is wearing off.
Why exactly would anyone have reason to believe that a Batman film starring Jake Gyllenhaal of all people would do well? Has Gyllenhaal ever starred in a successful movie outside of Brokeback Mountain?

No way unless it is terrible. Batman is the most popular movie super hero and even a halfway decent Batman film will be huge.

No it would never flop. It's Batman after all.
Plus it would be directed by Matt Reeves who directed the two amazing Planet of the Apes movies. He's on a whole other level from Synder or Ayers.

Gyllenhall has been phenomenal in smaller movies since Brokeback Mountain. Source Code, Prisoners, Enemy, Nightcrawler, Southpaw, Nocturnal Animals. The guys a beast actor.

Batman & Robin flopped. Ehhh, I guess. It still made almost twice it's budget though and that movie is probably the most famous bad movie of all time.

The Lego Batman Movie was still a hit, I'm not sure why you're saying people are getting sick of the character. Batman will still be a cultural icon in 50 years.
Now, the real question is will The Batman ever be made? They hired a new director, and still doesn't have a release date. Heck, half of the DCEU films are not dated like Joker Origin Story, Batgirl, Flashpoint, Suicide Squad 2, and Man of Steel 2 just to name a few.

It was only a “hit” because it had an $80 million budget. It still made less than what I’d imagine WB was hoping for. If you believe people aren’t getting sick of the character, I’d like to hear why you feel that way. Between the poor reception to BvS and that godawful Killing Joke movie from last year, and the fact that The LEGO Batman Movie made significantly less than the movie it was spun off from, I see no reason to assume that Batman is still going strong.

However Wonder Woman is proof that a DC movie can be good and successful when not done by Snyder. I don't hate him or his style, but I do see that the problem stems from him. Now that he's almost certainly out who knows where these characters can go with other directors.

Batman has just had bad luck over the last couple of years. People said that people won't get excited for another Batman movie after Batman & Robin, then Batman Begins came out, which was a success. Then a little film called The Dark Knight came out and its sequel, The Dark Knight Rises. And Batman v. Superman was still a success despite negative reviews, and Justice League will still be a hit regardless of critics. Not to mention that Ben Affleck won people over after his portrayal of Batman, certainly won me over. If Batman can survive Batman & Robin, then he can survive anything.

If they can't even pull off a good Batman flick, it'll prove how bad off the DCEU is.

And we live in the age of MCU levity and jokiness. Artistically this new Ape trilogy is a masterwork (at least the Reeves parts). I take that every day and night over a mediocre mass-appeal blockbuster making billions. You may see it differently.

No. I think ‘The Batman’ will be the most successful superhero movie of all time and will be a bigger success than any DC or Marvel movie before it. Now Geoff Johns has confirmed we are going to get the Bat Family for the very first time in movies and the ‘Batman’ movies are FINALLY going to mirror the comic books I have no doubt they are going to be huge! The addition of Bat Family members like The Spoiler, Orphan, Red Robin, Batwoman, Clayface, Red Hood, Bluebird, Hawkfire, Batwing etc changes EVERYTHING going forward along with the solo movies of Batgirl and Nightwing which will lead to movies of Birds of Prey and Titans and gives fans what we have been waiting to see for years – the Bat Family!!! I have said it before, the Bat Family is the biggest selling entity in comic book history and there is a good reason it makes up more than 60 percent of DC. People working at DC have even said without the Bat Family Batman wouldn’t have lasted as long as he has and a lot of fans buy Batman comic books to see what Bat Family characters are going to be in them and that has lead to many spinoffs such as Batgirl, Nightwing, Birds of Prey, Titans, Batwoman, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Secret Six, Red Robin, We Are Robin, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, Suicide Squad, Gotham City Sirens etc etc and millions of Bat Family fans boycotted the Nolan movies and Batman vs Superman for not including the Bat Family but will be going to these movies.
Now the Bat Family is coming to the screens a landslide will be unleashed. Mark my words and this is something that should have been done a long time ago.
