I would not have a problem with being called that from an immensely respectful young black gentleman.
The trouble with Laura is that she would take personal offense to Steve calling her that but would be completely oblivious if the football quarterback (and also date rapist) did it. Steve just wanted to let his love for Laura shine whereas the other suitors (even smarmy Stephahn) had an agenda.
