Thoughts? I love this chick. Ramona Shelburne. She's a regular on 'Around the Horn' - arguably ESPN's greatest sports talk show - it's a fun half hour. She's incredibly knowledgeable, bubbly, fun, quick witted and charming. Personality vs. Physical Appearance? I go Personality. 1-0 Personality. Go!

I saw an old rerun of the 'Dick Cavett Show' and he had on two guests: Raquel Welch and Janis Joplin. Raquel was so pretentious, spoke slowly in order to act as though she were intelligent, was boring as hell; Janis was hilarious full of life, sharp and witty. By the end of the show I would rather have gone to bed with Janis Joplin.

Great flick, doesn't get mentioned enough in conversations about classic 80s teen movies.

When you think about it, guys were pretty creepy in those movies. Borderline stalkers that somehow get rewarded for their behavior. Quite an odd message to send to America's youth.

I've been attracted to women based on personality. But very rarely in truth.

For me, two factors are at play here:
One, I literally find about 90% of the women in the world physically attractive. All sorts of body types, proportions, all ages, ethnicities, etc. And socio-economic status, educational background, intelligence, etc. don't really have anything to do with it. I do find some women unattractive--about 10%, but the vast majority I think are attracitve. So it's no difficult task on that end.
Two, personality strongly affects just how physically attractive I find someone. If I know someone or can even just observe them a bit, I can't think of their appearance divorced from my assessment of their personality really. So if I'm attracted to someone's personality, I'll think they're more physically attractive than I would if I were turned off by their personality. Unlike socio-economic, educational, etc. statuses, I'm quite a bit pickier when it comes to personalities. I like mellow, positive-minded/non-judgmental, open-minded/laissez-faire, adventurous, compassionate, humor-loving people.
