No matter what the direction of these movies might’ve turned out to be, the first ever Justice League movie was always going to have a tough battle ahead of it for one simple reason: Marvel did it first. There’s no point in arguing that the whole reason we have a DC shared universe to begin with is because of the success of the MCU. The idea of a superhero crossover movie had already been done with The Avengers, which was of course a record breaking hit. No matter what would’ve happened with these DC movies, JL would’ve always been viewed as an attempt to replicate the success that Marvel enjoyed with TA. It was never going to match the the kind of money TA made because it would’ve been viewed as an imitation at the end of the day. I’m not saying that things couldn’t have turned out better, but the DCEU (or something) was never going to match the MCU because it simply came too late in time. Thats my two cents. I think the earlier DCEU movies made it an uphill battle more than the existence of The Avengers. Wonder Woman's success/inclusion should have made it less so. A film featuring 3 of the most famous comic book heroes of all time should have been a no brainer, but they had already done that to some extent with less than well received results in BvS. Kudos for DC for taking a slightly different approach overall, with a darker tone, but it just hasn't worked out, either because of the execution or as a reflection of what audiences want. Still no doubt it will make shit loads of money though, and really that's all that matters to the studios.

He's talking about thievery, it had to be a Catwoman reference. Problem is, they just don't care about her age in relation to having a history with Bruce. The only reason they care about Catwoman now is because they want her for a "Gotham City Sirens" movie and they think she has to be the same age as Margot Robbie (who also was way too young to be playing a veteran Harley) or else the film won't work. Nevermind Selina NOT being in her late 30s means she won't work with Affleck...it's just a mess. It's too bad, because a lot of actresses around Affleck's age would fine as his Catwoman, two that spring to mind right away are Kate Beckinsale and Carla Gugino, the former had already been his love interest in a movie and who's ex actually helmed a music video promoting a Batman film while the latter has ties already to the DCEU and has expressed interest in the part. I know, I know, run-on sentence, but still just had to get it out. Personally, I want Rosamund Pike.

Honestly, if they were ever to beat the MCU at its own game, they needed to get that ball rolling with Batman Begins. Yes, I know about Nolan's request for them not to do crossover anything with his Batman. The fact remains 2005 was their last best chance. Well, if they hadn't offed Wonder Woman's entire universe off screen, they could have used Hades and his army of the undead to lay siege to Mount Olympus or something in the JL movie. That'd have been different from The Avengers and MCU. I don't think the MCU will die after Infinity War. It'll just probably make less money for a while, like in Phase 1, and hit its stride again later down the line. I think if Infinty War is well liked( and it probably will be) the next one will make huge numbers regardless of quality. Maybe after that one it will lose some steam, but i wouldn't bet on it "If"? That think Infinity War being well-loved is an absolute certainty.
