Week 11 has ended. We'll continue this series of thread for a few more weeks - eventually once the playoffs picture gets clear, this series will lose its purpose since by definition the teams that make the playoffs are winners, and the ones that don't are losers (at least as far as one individual season is concerned). But we're still a bit far from that so we'll carry on. If you care to consult the state of affairs as of week 9, here is a link to that thread: IMDB2.freeforums.net/thread/68641/nfl-week-10-winners-losers?page=2&scrollTo=1071003Feel free to agree or disagree, post your own take, etc.; your participation is appreciated. This doesn't intend to contain profound analysis, it's just a way to think about these teams, for the sake of light entertainment. Even so, as usual we'll have Granny (BritneyFox) come here to troll and LOL the thread without adding anything of substance; we know how trolls are; we'll just ignore her useless "contribution." Byes - Colts, Panthers, Jets, Niners ------------ Week 11 winners and losersWinners:Steelers - 8-2, played very well on TNF (at least over the air, not so much in the running game), looking like the only one that can possibly competed with the Patriots in the AFC Saints - 8-2, won the eight one in a row, and the spectacular comeback win is the stuff of champions. I won't be surprised if the Saints actually win it all. The one time (excluded the first two weeks) that someone looks like they'll be able to stop them, they score 15 unanswered points to tie, then win the game in OT. Jaguars - It wasn't pretty, had trouble beating the Browns, but still, given the Titan's loss, they are now isolated as the leaders of their division. Vikings - classy win today, remain strong and competitive. Rams - lost to the excellent Vikings but continue to lead their division, although now, by a hair, but even if they don't win it, they'll be very competitive for the wild card. If the Seahawks don't do well without Sherman then the Rams become even more comfortable, so they remain Winners. Patriots - Ageless Tom Brady continues to dazzle. 8-2 now. Eagles - Oh my, Saints vs. Eagles, the most likely NFC championship game, will be epic! What a team! Losers:Redskins - choke of the year. They were already in trouble, behind in the NFC wild card hunt, and now after squandering (numerous times) the various opportunities they had to upset the Saints in New Orleans, they still managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That's what losers do. Giants - winning one to go 2-8 doesn't earn them the Winners list but at least I stopped calling them Midgets, LOL Bears - again, sometimes they pull off a good game but still lose. Dolphins - Not even with Moore they could do it. Loss to a rather bad team. The Dolphins are lost and doomed. Bucs - still losers at 4-6 in a division that has three of the best teams in the league; going nowhere in spite of some improvement Packers - after being shut out by a mediocre Ravens team, there is no doubt whatsoever that without Rodgers they are big Losers with a capital L. Cardinals - all hopes of still competing for the playoffs are gone. They lost to Savage! Enough said. Texans - even Savage can win a game. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The Texans won but remain losers without their quarterback lost to injury. Browns - there are three things that are sure in life. Death, Taxes, and the Cleveland Browns belonging to a Losers list. Bills - What a bunch of incompetents! They were still competing for the wild card, with the #6 seed, then decide to bench their QB Tyrod Taylor who had 10 TDs to 3 Interceptions in the year and a rating of above 100, in favor of the unproven rookie Peterman. The rookie then goes and stinks up the place, throwing 5 interceptions, and achieving a rating of 17.9. The idiots then bring back Taylor, too late to save the game. Chargers - They are the best losers... push the opponents to the limit but still lose, win some... but at 4-6 they are going nowhere. Raiders - the sad reality is that they are mediocre. Broncos - this team fell from grace so hard! Bengals - another middle-of-the-pack, mediocre team. Cowboys - oh wait, according to DC-Fan they were supposed to run the table, right? Need More Evidence:Titans - they were in a tie with the Jaguars for the divisional lead. After they lost the TNF game they fell 1/2 game behind. In the weak AFC, their modest winning record of 6-4 should still make them competitive for the wild card therefore they had been listed as winners, but watching them (ugly victories when they do win, overall not brilliant), one just feels that the Jaguars are better so the Titans are unlikely to win the division; then the wild card berth becomes a bit of a lottery, so let's place them here on the NME list and keep monitoring what they do. Lions - they won, but again, were unconvincing against a bad team. On the other hand, they do have an opportunity, here, to fight for the division, if they somehow get a miracle upset against the Vikings on short rest. I'm thinking they are still losers but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here, because all season long I've been hoping for a good Lions showing on Thanksgiving, so more due to wishful thinking than reality, I'm throwing them a bone and calling them Need More Evidence for now. If they don't do it on Thanksgiving, they go back to Losers, likely for good. Chiefs - year after year they did well after the bye week... not this time; choke job against the lowly Giants. The Chiefs have been horrible in the second quarter of the season and are about to be moved to Losers if this continues. Still, in a weak conference, their record of 6-4 earns them the NME instead, but the next couple of games, if the decline continues, will be decisive to show if they can bounce back or not. Ravens - their win in Green Bay puts them right into the mix for the wild card, but they at still a very mediocre team; I can't call them winners. But I can no longer call them losers if they keep good chances at a wild card berth. Seahawks - their defense is banged up but they played way better than expected against Atlanta. Both teams are 6-4 and neither one is guaranteed in the playoffs, since there are 8 teams with 6-4 or better therefore more evidence is by definition needed to sort out Seattle and Atlanta. Falcons - Almost squandered another lead so even though I root for them I'm not comfortable with keeping them in the winners list, because I just don't know if they will make the playoffs. 8 teams are vying for the 6 NFC playoff positions and two will drop off, and both Seattle and Atlanta are a bit of a rollercoaster now, with strengths and weaknesses. So this time, reluctantly I'll place my Falcons as NME.

Don't mind granny, she's harmless. Just tell her to "go outside and get some exercise fatty."
Really looking forward to Rams-Vikings. We should have a good sense about what both these teams are about after this one. Do either have realistic Super Bowl aspirations? The Eagles are not unbeatable(unlike what their fans think) and I think one of these teams will be the one to knock them off. This game is also huge as far as the home field playoff advantage goes. It would be great for the Vikings to be the 1st team to play a Super Bowl in their home stadium.
I would love to see the Bears knock off the Lions. The Vikings need more breathing room as their scheduele is a tough one the rest of the way.
Other that that, Redskins-Saints, Pats-Raiders, Eagles-Cowboys and Falcons-Seahawks all have huge playoff implications.
Looks like a real goos couple of days for NFL football.

OK, thanks marsexplorer , but if anyone feels the need for deeper analysis beyond the short lines used to justify the placements, let's talk a little more about what is going on with these teams. 1. The Vikings and Case Keenum: it's interesting, he won five in a row but Terry Bridgewater is now healthy. So the Vikings so far did not dare benching Keenum, but some other move might come if he has a bad game at some point in the near future. 2. What is making the Saints so good: they've always been a passing team with Drew Brees, but then, right now their passing game has been outstanding with Ingram and Kamara. At one point last week they ran the ball 24 consecutive times! Plus, their offense has been performing well, too. So, everybody seems to feel that the Eagles are the favorites, currently, for the NFC but Eagles beware; if the Saints continue to do what they've been doing, a potential duel between the Eagles and the Saints for the NFC championship might have surprising results. This said, even for these two top-performing teams in the NFC, this season has shown that a team is good as far as injury doesn't wipe it out... We've had so many devastating injuries this season, that nothing is guaranteed. Brees falls down, Wentz falls down, and oops, things dramatically change. But as of the end of week 10, it's hard not to feel that the Saints and the Eagles are the real contenders. 3. The Browns are not only awful all around, but Deshone Kizer seems to be injury-prone. Poor Browns... 4. McAdoo has totally lost the locker room. They engaged in tough talk among them, according to his own report, but I don't see it changing, which is one of the reasons why I kept knicknaming them the New York Football Midgets. The owners have said they won't fire McAdoo during the season, but I'll be surprised if he is still there in 2018. 5. The Chief's inconsistency when we compare the first quarter of the season with the second quarter is there but they will likely rebound. Reid has been unreal after a bye. Apparently he uses the bye to look at film from his own team rather than the opponents and comes up with corrective action, so, do expect that they will crush the already weak Giants, with a large margin of points. 6. Now, the Bills' quarterback situation is puzzling. Tyrod Taylor had ten TDs and 3 interceptions. That's more than three times more TDs. His passing rate has been above 100, posting 300-yard games. But his defense is putrid. Only now he got a good target in Kelvin Benjamin but Benjamin hasn't even had the time to absorb their playbook. The defense is allowing 300 yards rushing by opponents. How will poor Tyrod compensate for that? And then they go and blame it all on him and bench him, in favor of a rookie, Nathan Peterman, and this, in spite of the fact that their season is not over; in spite of Taylor's bad game last week, they are still the 6th seed with a wild card spot, if the season ended today. So, WTF? Is that when you throw it all out and go with an unproven rookie??? I think the decision is stupid and will backfire. 7. The next game for the Cowboys is essential. They get... the Eagles! It couldn't be tougher even though it will be at home. Maybe the bad loss to the Falcons with their offense disappearing without Elliott was just shell shock with the suspension, but if they don't bounce back pretty soon, then they are in big, big trouble. So, bouncing back against... the Eagles??? Not likely. Still, it's their opportunity to score an upset that would go a long way in psychologically reversing the momentum. This will be an interesting game. But like everybody else, I still favor the Eagles to win comfortably. For the Cowboys, a lot rests on Russell Wilson's shoulders. He needs to step up to the plate because without a running game, they can't recover. 8. Talking about the Eagles, it's unreal: they could clench a position in the playoffs as early as week 11! Whoa! Wentz threw 23 TDs and 5 interceptions. I don't understand why some people here still find that the Eagles' fans optimism is unjustified. Wentz has been MVP caliber. Well, the competition is, Brady has 19 vs 2. 9. Benching quarterbacks: I would understand the benching of Jay Cutler who only played well in week 9, way more than I understand the benching of Tyrod Taylor. The Dolphins have two good receivers, Landry and Parker, so it's difficult not to blame Cutler; Matt Moore is not great but maybe he should get a chance to see if he can do better. 10. Belichick is always smart. He kept the Patriots in Colorado in high altitude, knowing that the next game would be in even higher altitude in Mexico City. The Raiders remained practically at sea level in Oakland. Advantage Bill. I see the Patriots going to 8-2. Poor Raiders, I like them, but they will have literally an uphill battle in Mexico City. 11. Rams at Vikings, such an interesting contest! The Rams are third in offense in the NFL and feature a 4-0 record on the road. The Vikings on the other hand are third in defense. Should be one of the best games of the week. One stat that people may have not noticed: the Vikings defense produced 8 picks while allowing only 10 TDs. 12. The Lions should be able to beat the Bears to remain somewhat competitive for the division but it doesn't look good for them. They will have to then face the Vikings on Thursday, with short rest, and they've been inconsistent enough so I think they will suffer more from the short week than the Vikings. If they lose, then they kiss the division good-bye. If the Vikings lose to the Rams and then the Lions pull off an upset, Detroit becomes competitive again so this interval of 5 days with a game on each end is what will tell us what these Lions are made of. 13. Again, quarterback stuff. I guess I can't get passed the Tyrod Taylor situation, because, look at Flacco, 8 TDs and 10 interceptions! He seems to be going really downhill in his career, and with the way the Steelers are playing, the Ravens can only fight for a wild card spot, and they need to look at their veteran quarterback to show some signs of life if they want to make it. The good thing for them is that the Packers have been looking unimpressive too and their passing defense has been bad. It shows how bad the AFC has been except for a few top teams, when a Flacco-led team (the way he's been playing) is still in the hunt, but if they can't beat the wounded Packers, they are in trouble. Talking about Flacco, do you know where he stands, in QB passing rating? #32 in the NFL!!!! 14. WTF were the Broncos thinking when they brought back Osweiler? Passing rating, 62.5. No wonder they score more FGs than TDs... They better get Lynch there soon. It seems like he's been healthier, lately. 15. The Seahawks are for now 6th seed but injury is threatening their defense. Sherman is out and not only that, but Kam Chancellor is banged up too. Jeopardy, Seahawks. Unlike the AFC where even the sinking Bills and the lost Ravens have a wild card shot, in the NFC if you blink, you're out of the picture, with strong competition all around. I somewhat feel that the Seahawks ultimately won't make it, especially if Atlanta and Carolina continue to improve. 16. It is interesting to notice that the Jaguars only allowed 24 points scored by their (granted, weak) opponents in this 3-game winning streak they are having. With the Titans kind of exposed on TNF, this is their opportunity to make a statement for the division. They are lucky: it's the Browns they face next! 17. Can Green Bay still have some hope? We saw Hundley with is best career game, last week. They are only one game behind, in the wild card race. The thing is, as much as the Ravens look lost in offense, their pass defense is not bad: actually, third in the NFL for this stat. So Hundley will need to continue his good showing with a decisive win, if they want to keep their hopes alive. 18. Another problem for Dallas: Tyron Smith won't play against the Eagles, and it makes sacks even more of a problem for Dak, who was sacked 8 times last game. 8 times!!! Ouch. DC-Fan will have another disappointing week, it seems. 19. There is a team that won't get headlines this weekend, obviously, because they are enjoying a bye. That's the Panthers. They are a much hated team (including by me) and people like to highlight their weakness and pay little attention to their strengths, but the thing is, Cam Newton is way better that he gets credit for (and this is because he is an annoying prick so people tend to engage in wishful thinking and dismiss him). We need to look at his seasons: MVP in 2015, then the huge setback of losing the SB while already showing signs of being banged up. Then, a season marred by pains and shoulder problems that were more significant then people realized while putting him down and mocking him for his horrible 2016 season. Then, surgery... rusty... inconsistent, inaccurate in the first quarter of this season. But look at his performance last game, and it is impossible to fail to realize that... he's back. He is for the first time running wildly again and throwing more accurately. Doubters, beware. With Olsen coming back at the end of the month, McCaffrey getting his NFL legs... the Panthers may end up being a lot more dangerous than people realize, even though it will be tough for them to topple the Saints, given that they are not doing well in divisional tie-breakers, and have lost one to the Saints already. But I wouldn't be surprised if both my Falcons and the Panthers end up making the two wild card spots in the NFC, and then, they could peak at the right time and be a force to reckon with, in the playoffs, even coming from an unfavorable seed. The thing is, they've been better on the road than at home so maybe they will still make trouble in a low seed. ----------- OK, a bit more substance, for this thread. I better do it now, because for the first time, I may not even watch the Sunday games. There will be family in town for Thanksgiving; they arrive on Sunday, and my siblings and children couldn't care less for football (with the exception of my son, but he likes college football more than the NFL). I'll have to give them some attention so I may do the thread just looking at the scores, without actually having seen the Sunday games.

Like I said, with a house full of guests, I wasn't paying as much attention and was watching on and off. I remember the score being 20-20 late, I thought it went to OT (didn't watch the very end). Then later my brother said "The Bucs won" and I didn't even pay attention to the score.

I sat Big Ben and L. Miller for Carr and K. Drake, I lost my fantasy team, 6-5. My other team (ESPN) is undefeated, Im not good at yahoo, I wont do that again! Anywho, yea, Pitts is looking good in a weak AFC = Winners.Saints - 8-2, won the eight one in a row, and the spectacular comeback win is the stuff of champions. Jaguars - It wasn't pretty, had trouble beating the Browns, but still, given the Titan's loss, they are now isolated as the leaders of their division. -Not only that, you realize the Titans own the 5th seed of the AFC atm? God the AFC isnt good this year. It looks like Pitt Vs NE again, still, Jacksonvilles D is legit. = Winners Vikings - classy win today, remain strong and competitive. -Rams only put up 7...wow. = Winners Rams - lost to the excellent Vikings but continue to lead their division, although now, by a hair, but even if they don't win it, they'll be very competitive for the wild card. If the Seahawks don't do well without Sherman then the Rams become even more comfortable, so they remain Winners. -Looks like Seattle isnt gonna win, unless they do a comeback. Wilson is doing anything he can. Yea, lost, close kick. Rams take a loss but theyre still okay. Rams I think make a wild card slot or win this division. = Winners Patriots - Ageless Tom Brady continues to dazzle. 8-2 now. -At the beginning of the season...everyone was in panic. Now they are fine at 8-2. = Winners Eagles - Oh my, Saints vs. Eagles, the most likely NFC championship game, will be epic! What a team! -Can run, pass, have defense, theyre good. = Winners Losers:Redskins - choke of the year. They were already in trouble, behind in the NFC wild card hunt, and now after squandering (numerous times) the various opportunities they had to upset the Saints in New Orleans, they still managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. That's what losers do. -This is why Id never pay Cousins the big bucks. Blew a golden shot. = Losers. Giants - winning one to go 2-8 doesn't earn them the Winners list but at least I stopped calling them Midgets, LOL -With each win you go higher in the draft....bad move imo. Get that draft pick. = Losers Bears - again, sometimes they pull off a good game but still lose. -Building for the future...have the QB of the future, idk, but theyre competitive. Still = Losers Dolphins - Not even with Moore they could do it. Loss to a rather bad team. The Dolphins are lost and doomed. -You cant beat TB!? SMH = Losers Bucs - still losers at 4-6 in a division that has three of the best teams in the league; going nowhere in spite of some improvement -Theyre going no where and Winston is in all kind of off field trouble. Uh oh = Losers Packers - after being shut out by a mediocre Ravens team, there is no doubt whatsoever that without Rodgers they are big Losers with a capital L. -No Rodgers, no chance, welcome to the Texans...you suck too! = Losers Cardinals - all hopes of still competing for the playoffs are gone. They lost to Savage! Enough said. -Im glad AP is getting a chance to shine, Fitz is still a monster, they just dont got enough pieces. = Losers Texans - even Savage can win a game. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. The Texans won but remain losers without their quarterback lost to injury. -AFC is so weak....4-6 Texans are literally still in the hunt, and really only a game (Well two, idk how the tie breaker stuff works) back...LOL. = Losers Browns - there are three things that are sure in life. Death, Taxes, and the Cleveland Browns belonging to a Losers list. -Cleveland...youre close! 6 more to go....come on, dont get cute and win a game now. You can be 0-16, do it, get in the record books! -LOL I bet Taylor was laughing on the sidelines. WTF was that. Did he get confused what team he was playing for? 5 INT...jesus. I told people this is why I didnt trust Buffalo. At the beginning of the season, this was different for Buffalo, no it isnt. This is what they do, start off hot, and suck when it counts. = Losers Chargers - They are the best losers... push the opponents to the limit but still lose, win some... but at 4-6 they are going nowhere. -IDK...it's the AFC and like the Texans, theyre in the wild card hunt. Not only that, KC cant buy a win, Denver just has no QB, and Oakland is back to being Oakland. Im gonna say losers, but this team has a shot to be NME it really does. I wish they didnt start so putrid, if they could have just won that Dolphin game and went 1-3....but they got a shot. Im gonna make a new ranking for them = Losers with a chance! (LOL) Raiders - the sad reality is that they are mediocre. -I expected more from Carr = Losers Broncos - this team fell from grace so hard! -God the AFC sucks this year = Losers Bengals - another middle-of-the-pack, mediocre team. -Did I mention the AFC sucks this year? = Losers Cowboys - oh wait, according to DC-Fan they were supposed to run the table, right? -LOL next week is when it starts. Dont worry, Zeke excuses will come, has to hurt NE is 8-2 for him. Cowboys are = losers. -If the season ended today, they got the 5th seed. Titans are where youd wanna be, in the drivers seat and in control of your destiny. = NME Lions - they won, but again, were unconvincing against a bad team. -In the AFC.....theyre NME, the NFC it's so stacked. I feel for the Lions because I think theyre a good club. Im gonna go with NME but I sadly think they can finish 10-6 and not make it. Ouch. = NME Chiefs - year after year they did well after the bye week... not this time; choke job against the lowly Giants. The Chiefs have been horrible in the second quarter of the season and are about to be moved to Losers if this continues. Still, in a weak conference, their record of 6-4 earns them the NME instead, but the next couple of games, if the decline continues, will be decisive to show if they can bounce back or not. -Wow...what happened to this team? Alex Smith was showing he deserved to be the number 1 pick, Hunt playing like a beast, Hill, Kelce, this team is loaded...and....Giants!? O boy....they got a 2 game lead, but they better start winning. = NME. Ravens - their win in Green Bay puts them right into the mix for the wild card, but they at still a very mediocre team; I can't call them winners. But I can no longer call them losers if they keep good chances at a wild card berth. -I can call them losers. Im sorry I trust the Titans > this Ravens team. I do think Titans make the 5th seed...who in the hell gets the 6th, I got no clue, but Id wanna be the 3rd seed, which I think could either be Jax or KC. (NE/Pitts I feel get the bye). Hey, how KC is playing, who knows. Still, if they can win again, Ill change this, I gotta go. = Losers
-Injuries, that should be the NFL theme....injuries. I know injuries are a part of the game but this year is taking out too much top talent, Im talking about guys who ARE the franchise. A. Rodgers owns GB D. Johnson was Ari and a lot of peoples number 1 fantasy pick. D. Watson was on his way to being rookie of the year and a new face of the NFL. How about JJ Watt, Im in Houston, they love Watt. Gone Sherman....gone, Seattle loves him. Add Kam too D. Cook, Minn new rookie, gone. Edelman gone.... I can go on and on but this is now kind of ruining the NFL season, I know we get injuries, but the best talent is going out. Shame, still Seattle is a = NME
-Agreed. = NME OK I enjoy doing these, couldnt find it I was liek uh oh where is it! Page 2, well ok! Only 1.5 teams we disagree on, lol. I called Ravens losers, I just dont trust them. Now the .5? Chargers, I gave them a ranking of their own. Losers with a chance, I actually like this team over the Ravens. They are always in the game. KC is tanking atm, Denver is yikes and Oakland is just "mediocre." I think the Chargers got a chance, but I still went losers....but with a chance!

Week 11 is upon us. Even so, as usual we'll have Granny (BritneyFox) come here to troll and LOL the thread without adding anything of substance; we know how trolls are; we'll just ignore her useless "contribution." Week 11 Games Byes - Colts, Panthers, Jets, Niners Remaining game: MNF: Falcons at Seahawks ------------ Week 11 winners and losersWinners:Steelers - 8-2, played very well on TNF (at least over the air, not so much in the running game), looking like the only one that can possibly competed with the Patriots in the AFC -Ugh of course Big Ben beasts. I won't be surprised if the Saints actually win it all. The one time (excluded the first two weeks) that someone looks like they'll be able to stop them, they score 15 unanswered points to tie, then win the game in OT. -I dont think the Saints win it all. I like them....but Im not sure yet, that defense has weaknesses...and if they face a Brady...uh oh. Still = Winners.
-If the season ended today, they got the 5th seed. Titans are where youd wanna be, in the drivers seat and in control of your destiny. = NME Lions - they won, but again, were unconvincing against a bad team. = Losers
Thanks, interesting points as usual. I hear your argumentation about the Chargers, but then, if they are losers with a chance (which is an accurate way to describe them), then I think maybe they do belong in the NME list. Because, yes, their losses were mostly close... they are the losers no team with a winning record wants to face right now. All games against the Chargers kind of look like a trap game now. And who knows, maybe like you said they will have a fantastic final stretch in the regular season and still make it. But then even though mediocre, it can also be said of the Ravens that maybe Flacco will suddenly remember that at one point he was sort of one of the NFL greats (there was the whole old issue - was Flacco elite or not? - but then he won a ring), and the Ravens will make some sort of push and still get in. We'll see. So maybe both the Ravens and the Chargers should be NME teams, and if we then agree on this, we'll have agreed on all teams, again.
