After the Rams left, I decided I would only support local college teams. As a result, I only wear hats or shirts from SLU or MIZZOU.

Why would anyone watch college sports over pros? the pageantry. it's electric. not so much about money. Big 5 Wars in Philly are great. 'nova, temple, lasalle, penn, st. joes - hell - throw drexel and delaware in there too. i'd argue this was the most exciting time in Philly (even though 'Nova is on the outskirts) since the Phils 2008 WS Win: for the hell of it i checked out the Flyers record this morning when i woke up to since they played against the Jets last night. yep. ot loss. so they get a point for a loss - jets get 2 for an OT win - and the orange and blacks record is like 8-8-3(might have that tie #wrong) and i started cracking up- been my argument for years - you have a handful of elite teams - i.e the Caps win the Presidents trophy and then get knocked out in the playoffs every year - and every other team is around .500 and anybody could knock off anybody - last week of the season a team can jump from the #12 seed 4 spots out of the playoffs to a #4 seed. to each their own. not hating. we all have hobbies others don't 'get' - and i used to be a huge hockey fan. but i'll take college hoops and football over today's NHL any day of the week. it's like - what's the point?

The only professional sport I turn on occasionally is the Blues game, and even then I barely pay attention.

I'd be sad to see the NFL go belly-up because of greed and stupidity, but it's not like there isn't tons of other sports to watch on TV.

And - again - to each their own - not being argumentative - again we all have our likes/dislikes - I think I used to infuriate SDM with this - no harm no foul. Do you like the current league/rules? I thought the shootout was a novel concept at first to bring the casual viewer in. To me it's too 'hokey' and 'carnival' like. Give me my old school 5 on 5 5 minutes OT. If you win - you get 2 points - if you lose - you get '0'. Today? You get a point for 'losing' in OT? What's this kindergarten where you get a trophy for 'losing' Gimme the old school divisions back to. Flyers, Rangers, Islanders, Caps, Pens. Like the NFC East in Football - rivalries and wars mean something.

I have been trying to "force myself" into following them. Shootouts are dumb. But, then again I hate most overtimes / and OT rules, in most sports.

Took the words out of my mouth. I don't know why but I feel 'forced' to continue to follow the Flyers from afar since I was a giant fan and grew up watching them. Was a huge Legion of Doom (Lindros, LeClair, Renberg) fan. Just Dominate. Fun to watch. It was a blast. Lindros was pretty much Joel Embiid on skates - could do whatever he wanted to do but suffered from concussion problems. Those days are long gone. Maybe because there's really nobody to actually cheer like this guy who got hated on in this city:

If it's the Eagles I'm not missing it. If it's the Cowboys, Redskins, Giants - I'm intrigued since there's playoff implications - they're division rivals, etc. I could care less about the Jags vs. Titans or Browns vs. Bengals. Packed house of Miami of Ohio vs. Tulsa and the crowd is electric going nuts? I'm all in

College sports are for people who don't understand sports but still want to loudly root for something.

Whatever. I prefer to watch the best players on Earth. At least college football can be entertaining, even though the teams are no where near as good as pro teams. College basketball is terrible in every way. NBA is so much better. No one in college can play defense or move without the ball. It is not good basketball 90% of the time.
