...Superman finally moved from out of the black hole he was stuck in in Man of Steel and BvS and finally came into the light in Justice League. When he donned the costume again and helped the League finish off Steppenwolf not only did he fight with care he also cared strongly for civilian lives, made jokes with his teammates, smiled, and was generally a very positive symbol like he should be.
I can now say with absolute certainty that Henry Cavill can be this generation's man of steel.

Pretty much agree with OP, I liked the way they teased it at the start with the handheld video. It could be argued that Superman had matured into his role/responsiblities since the events of Man of Steel, although it doesn't explain why he was still quite serious during the events of BvS. I guess can let that pass, maybe he was putting on a postive face as a role model when talking to the kids. I think it still remains to be seen if they've got the right balance for him. Did really like the mid-credit sequence, incidentally.

Is there a reason for him to suddenly give a damn about civilians when he's always approached superhero work with a "you can't make an omelette without cracking a few thousands eggs" attitude before?
