Okay, let's hear them: Your favorite Miyazaki film and why.
It was really close for me, but I'm going with Ponyo. I love that it's an interpretation of the Hans Christian Anderson classic. The animation is beautiful, and it's just so strange and lovely.
I also love Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke

So difficult to choose. I'm not sure I can. It really is hard. I picked Ponyo because it ends up being the one I watch the most. Spirited Away is so ethereal, though, and I want to be Princess Mononoke. Also, who doesn't love Totoro?

The animation is beautiful, and it's just so strange and lovely. I also love Spirited Away and Princess MononokeI think the strongest film overall was Princess Mononoke. It just had the perfect combination of excellent animation, great character and world design, sweeping and epic musical scores, and a plot that moved at a brisk pace when it needed to but that also knew when to slow down and let the world breathe a bit. It's also a great example of how to craft characters that have understandable motivations for what they're doing and where there are not villains so much as opposing sides trying to do what they think is right. This is one thing that anime has typically done well. But damn, that music: Also, Howl's Moving Castle was amazing.

Spirited Away is by far my favorite. It's a masterpiece. Everything about it is beautiful: the story, the characters, the visuals, the score. I've seen it in theaters three times over three different releases, and I plan on watching it every time it's re-released.
But to be fair, I can probably find something wonderful to say about all of Studio Ghibli's releases.

Howl's Moving Castle is outstanding. The score alone makes it worth a watch.

You know, it might be easier to say which Ghibli film we didn't care for.

"Howl's Moving Castle" is my favorite. I saw "Princess Mononoke" first, then "Howl's Moving Castle", then "Spirited Away". My personal favorite is "Howl's Moving Castle". The score is great, and I appreciate the theme of looking beyond surface appearances to see the beauty within. It also has one of the better English dubs, so I can enjoy both the Japanese and English versions (usually I only watch the Japanese with English subtitles.)

Maybe not the strongest, or most technically impressive, but I agree about Ponyo - it's just really charming and lowkey. I feel I have to be in the mood for something like Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke; Ponyo is more of a comfort film, it's one of my go-to movies when I'm down.
My Neighbor Totoro also, probably for the same reason.

Howl's Moving Castle.
This was one of, if not the first Anime films I ever watched in full. It reeled me in, the animation is breathtakingly beautiful, the story is heavy on emotion but not to a point where you just cry, it hits you in the feels and leaves you wanting more. Perfect storytelling. The English dub voice acting is also fantastic. Jean Simmons and Christian Bale being the highlights.
It's not only a marvelous animated film but one of the best films I've ever seen. In my top 10 for sure.

Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle are a little above their heads. And it's just so adorable! rs1327.pbsrc.com/albums/u670/12btucker/Ghibli%20Films/Ponyo/Ponyosquirt_zps954dce80.gif~c200

Yeah, but Lisa's driving is truly terrifying. For sure, and Fujimoto looks like he stepped straight out of a Tim Burton film
