Dips!
What is your go-to dip for a plate of French Fries (assuming that the answer isn't "None" of course).
1. Ketchup
2. BBQ Sauce
3. Tartar Sauce
4. Mayonnaise
5. Cheese Sauce
6. Vinegar
7. Sweet & Sour Sauce
8. Hot Chili Sauce
If there's some other dip you prefer, feel free to post it.

...there is a French Market in downtown Chicago that has a Belgian vendor hawking twice fried fries that are delicious. They offer 25 other dips in addition to ketchup. I once tried their peanut sauce dip and it was marvelous.

Ketchup, because most places have it readily available. I also like Malt Vinegar (not the same as #6).

Ketchup but that Sweet & Sour Sauce I bet would be good. Might give it a try.

Don't think I've ever dipped a french fry. I'd dip them into a bowl of crushed, roasted garlic and pepper.

Usually ketchup but sometimes vinegar (preferably malt vinegar). To the best of my memory I have never used any of those other things.

Ketchup is my traditional choice. But I would also use bbq sauce or mustard as alternatives. The cheese sauce would be good, but that's rarely available. Some kind of garlic/butter/cheese mixture would be cool, too.
I never thought I would eat mustard on fries until one year I started a new high school and discovered the cafeteria had no ketchup available. To me that was just unheard of. But they did have mustard and before long I developed a liking for it.

Nobody said chili and I didn't think of it either. I have had chili on fries and quite enjoyed it.

Ketchup Malt Vinegar
I would rather have the cheese poured on the fries, preferably with real bacon bits and peppers.
I remember reading somewhere that fries dipped in mayo was a huge thing in Belgium.

1. Ketchup
my usual go to. I find that French fries hot out of the oven or fryer covered with ketchup cools them down in record time.
2. BBQ Sauce
I have tried and it depends on my mood.
3. Tartar Sauce
have not had but will try. 4. Mayonnaise
lately mayo has been persona non grata with my colon but my mother would used to mix ketchup and mayo together and dip her fries into that.
5. Cheese Sauce
I love cheese sauce but this is something rare and just not a thing in nyc apparently.
6. Vinegar
friggin love vinegar but, like cheese sauce, kind of rare to find in nyc unless you order fish and chips.
7. Sweet & Sour Sauce
I love s and s but apparently, you an only get this via mcdonalds.
8. Hot Chili Sauce
no. I don't do well with very firey hot things so no.
If there's some other dip you prefer, feel free to post it.
9: thousand island dressing.
just what my mother did but with relish added. yeah, the secret sauce of mickey d's.
10: seriously... chocolate pudding.
you will not be sorry.

deembastille: I will keep those suggestions in mind. Thanks!
btw, maybe my addition of vinegar to the list was a little clumsy, because most people don't "dip" their fries into the vinegar, rather they sprinkle it on. Still, it is a common accompaniment to fries, so I thought I'd include it even if not really a dip.

I would go with just go with ketchup but I also like bbq sauce as well. Most people overlook the awesomeness of bbq sauce but it does go well with fries. Certain fries like nathans, sometimes I just use salt and don't dip in anything.

Some or any of the ones listed... but also, tbh, I like a batch of really crispy, browned French fries with nothing on them, other than a sprinkle of salt. Good, crispy fries are often good enough to stand on their own with NO further embellishment of any kind. But, I gotta' admit, sauces can work well with fries and be fun and tasty, too, so that's why I made this thread.

I actually like'm soggy sometimes. It's more condensed and you can shovel a lot more fries in your mouth at once. Depends on the kind of fries too though

Depends on the kind of fries too though That's WHY I LOVE Five Guys NATURAL-CUT (FRESH-CUT) French fries SO MUCH because they're BOTH crispy and soggy (although more on the soggy side). This makes them BETTER than McDonald's. Fresh (almost) ALWAYS BEATS frozen.

That sounds right up my ally as far as fries go.
