Felt like a completely different character than he was in Daredevil. He felt far more brutal and menacing in it than this show. The action definitely works here and when they hit it, it hits the mark every time it's very bloody and brutal, but the show really "soften" his character a bit much. It would have been a perfect chance to really deepen the question and morality of being a vigilante. Something you can really tackle, combined with PTSD for veterans. Season 2 of Daredevil did that great with that, especially with the argument between Castle and Murdock, and I wish they had pushed that more in this show. Overall, I'd give it a solid 6 out of 10.

I’m enjoying it so far, but...
*Spoiler*:
I didn’t like the fact that Billy turned out to be with the bad guys. Because it was incredibly predictable. I had a bad feeling about him from the start.

Only 6 out of 10? Didn't the reviews say this was supposed to be the best MCU Netflix series? So it's really over-rated?

I dig the tone, story and subplots but, I'm shocked by how little action there is and I'm on episode seven. I'm glad they made this show but, I'm thinking one and done.

Punisher was the best Marvel tv-show after Daredevil. Hope they released a second Season 2.

6/10. My fav MCU show so far. It's still only ok in view of the golden age of TV competition:
- too little story stretched over too many filler episodes - too many writing tropes unimaginatively put together (sleeping with the enemy, foreseeable best-bud is villain twist, love triangle, save family/Martha, redemption etc) - Punisher character jumped from wreck in Ep1 to pretty stable, misunderstood nice guy: a true Umerican hero taking matters in his own hand, selfless and seeking redemption, and fighting the good fight because mislead and betrayed by the elites [cliche]. - the acting was surely solid, but I found Jon Bernthal's performance one note-ish at times and the phlegmatic raspy voice act got on my nerves fast. - I was ok with the violence in the last 2 episodes but it bordered on porn, and take that away and there is not much content left.
But it was consistent in tone, hardly any juvenile humor [exceptions: hung like moose], had not too many trashy anticlimactic pop songs, and is better than those abysmal movies - entertaining while it lasts with some shallow aftertaste.

There was always going to be a tough reception for this show, mainly for political reasons. The recent shootings just made it worse.

It's just slow and not a whole lot of action (or as one reviewer put it; punishing) in it. I understand it being character-driven, but by god, there were so many moments that felt out of character for Castle in addition to the lack of action.

Well, he *is* Jigsaw after all, so of course he was going to be bad. I actually bought into him being a good guy surprisingly, Ben Barnes is quite a performer.

I m on ep 7 and yeah its lacking action. I m probably gonna stop and come back to it when I got nothing to do. The Thomas Jane movie even the Dolph Lundgren movie had more action I feel bad for Bernthal hes the saving grave.

I really enjoyed the show. Certainly not the dud some have claimed it's been reported as. Good to see Tom Shankland direct a few episodes too....a really promising director a decade or so ago, who now seems to be working sporadically on TV.

I loved it. It started off a little sluggish, but got great towards the middle. I never felt it dragged. I was very impressed. Very well acted and written. I can understand the predictability complaints though. They are true, but it did not bother me.

I actually agree with most of this, but gave it more of a pass I guess. I still thoroughly enjoyed it. My favorite part was the flashback to Afghanistan when he went nuts and killed all those dudes.

I enjoyed it but was way down on what I expected from his appearances and attitude that was portrayed in DD 2.
As most have said he was pretty much un-Punisher and the action was very good when done but it seemed to take an age to get to the action. Too many episodes that could easily have dropped a lot of unnecessary filler and took it down to 8 episodes. I marvelled at Castle's powers of recovery, so many times he was cut, shot or had a foreign object protruding from him only to have a few stitches and he was as good as new. Madani (a character I loathed) was black and blue and rigid with pain from head to toe but after her horizontal gymnastics with Russo was miraculously healed.
Like I said, I enjoyed it but I was disappointed. Better than Iron Fist and Luke Cage, but not as good as DD or Jessica Jones.

I do not get the complaints. Some of them make sense, but it is not nearly enough to bring this show down for me to anything under a 8/10. I thought the characters in this show were perfect. It was the second best Marvel Netflix series after Daredevil.
