I thought so, even if the final battle is lackluster, there are still great moments within it.

Is it as good as many people say it is ? It's not a great movie. It's a fantastic comic to screen translation of a superhero though. They took what was on the page and gave it more dimension. Cap got the same treatment in First Avenger which was a very good but, not necessarily great movie.

Is it as good as many people say it is ? Yes. Wonder Woman is rated the #1 best superhero movie of all time: 50 Best Superhero Movies of All Time. Wonder Woman is also a serious contender for a Best Picture Oscar nomination, which no superhero movie has ever gotten.

Is it as good as many people say it is ? I think it all depends on who these "many people" are. Is it the best super hero movie ever? No. Is it a good movie? Yes. Is it going to be nominated for an Oscar? I HIGHLY doubt it. It's an enjoyable movie and a solid 7/10 for me.

I wouldn't say it's one of the best comic book films ever, but it's just below that.

One of the best comic book movies I've seen in a long...long time. It's a great movie.

Honestly I didn't think so when I first saw it. However, I watched it twice this past week (once a few days and ago and again today on my new 4k which looked AMAZING) and I really like it now. It's really re-watchable and damn good fun.

No, it's average. It's lucky. America's political climate is the reason it was successful. Oh it's a female superhero yippee... The second one wont do that well. Captain Marvel will show everyone how it's done

I found it very similar to First Avenger, but lacking the heart.

It's a mediocre movie with a very few good moments and no rewatch value that got lucky. I might be biased though since I find all of 2017 superhero movies wildly overrated (Justice League excluded, I haven't seen it and I don't plan to).

Not even close. Its just a decent movie. Flip the genders of the leads and it'd have only made half of what it did.

I found it very similar to First Avenger, but lacking the heart. Wonder Woman is nothing like First Avenger. If Wonder Woman were like First Avenger, then there would've been plenty of jokes during the No Man's Land scene, plenty of jokes when they showed the injured soldiers with amputated limbs, and plenty of jokes when they showed the women and children killed by the poisonous gas. First Avenger and all MCU movies always treat war and people getting killed as a big joke, but Wonder Woman had a perfect balance between the serious moments and the lighter moments.
Also, Wonder Woman is a serious contender for a Best Picture Oscar nomination. First Avenger was never considered for any Oscar. No MCU movies have ever been seriously considered for a Best Picture Oscar nomination and never will. MCU is running an Oscar campaign for GotG2, but its doubtful the Academy will consider a movie that has a pedophile in it.

No it's not, but thats not an entirely fair criticism, Raptor is right imo had the gender roles been reversed this would not be as highly praised, I mean would it be praised? yes but not to the extent it has been.
It's a good CBM but that's it, the only thing that makes it special is it's the first real chance a female solo CBM has been given to stand out, the truth is if there had been 2 or 3 prior strong female lead CBM's or if the DCEU had found it's footing earlier this film wouldn't be as praised as it is.
It's worth a watch just so you can decide for yourself how much you like it, if it plays into your specific tastes you'll get more out of it, but it's far from a masterpiece but in no way a bad film either imo.

I found it very similar to First Avenger, but lacking the heart. Wonder Woman is nothing like First Avenger. Yeah, right... A comic book hero, created just before the US entry into World War 2, with superhuman abilities, carrying a shield, leads a multi-cultural team of soldiers (who at one point are all in London where they go to a local pub) in an attempt to defeat the Germans during a World War. The main villain and their scientist are developing a super weapon. The superhuman falls in love with an Allied agent in the process, but one of the happy couple dies when they sacrifice themselves whilst destroying an aeroplane that is carrying said weapon. It really isn't. I already steared you toward many sites that have Oscar nomination predictions (of course, you ignored), and whilst a couple have said it's one of many outsiders that may surprise with a nomination, NONE have it as a serious contender for nomination

Yes, compared to other CBMs. It's the most classically written, with proper arcs, themes and character motivation. It's the one that people outside the comic book nerd community will understand and like when it's on TV.

Absolutely! I like to think of it as WB apology for the abomination that was Suicide Squad.

It was the DCEU's first decent movie, which automatically made people hype it up. Plus, the boosters from critics not wanting to be seen as misogynists also propped up the film after the Ghostbusters thing last year. Plus the female director thing too gave it another critic shielding.
And now the Weinstein scandal is also gonna make Hollywood want to back a movie about a strong female even more.
So a bunch of boosters elevated a decent film. The story itself was pretty formulaic stuff.
