I had a feeling he was going to pass away when they announced organ failure. My uncle had the exact same thing as David. All the years of drinking like a fish resulted in cirrhosis with end-stage liver disease. He only made it about five months after his initial diagnosis. His organs were failing and there was nothing anybody could do for him, other than make him as comfortable as possible.
I'm assuming that was the case in David's situation. Even with all the money in the world, having a liver transplant just won't work. It isn't the only part of your body that takes damage when consuming alcohol.
So sad. R.I.P.
