If I remembered anything at all about the damn show I might be able to tell you, but they wait WAY too long between seasons...it's ridiculous. I do recall being happy with it, though. To anyone who hasn't started watching it yet; just wait until the series is over and binge. This waiting over a year between seasons sucks rancid donkey balls.

Yes BCS is very good indeed! It's an extreme slow burner but it's all going to be worth it I'm sure. The writing is superb and the acting is second to none! No screen time is wasted. Beware though you have to be patient with this series because, as stated above, it moves at a snails pace. It's NEVER boring though, always entertaining and it always leaves you gagging to know what'll happen next. Well recommended.

I binged BrBa, so I was able to see the entire show in a short amount of time. I'm watching BCS at a "normal?" pace, so it seems slower, but still enjoyable (for me). Others may not appreciate the pacing.

Others may not appreciate the pacing. I binged it, too, but I don't think that's entirely the reason that some BrBa fans describe BCS as slow. The simple fact is, a show in which the main story line traces the transition of cynical, directionless huckster into a flamboyant, bottom-feeding lawyer is simply not going to offer a natural setting for the bombastic moments that are more fitting in a plot line about the manufacture and sale of an illegal drug. I give Vince Gilligan & Co. credit for not just making Breaking Bad, Jr., perhaps focusing on the cartel, the DEA, or some other aspect of the original show which would have given a plausible setting for spectacular moments like the explosion of Tuco's HQ, the head-on-the-tortoise booby trap, Fring's hospital visit, etc. Gilligan chose to change direction, to focus more on plot and character development, and to trust his viewers to decide whether to follow along. Another thing some BrBa fans seem to forget is that there were quite a few, shall we say, moments of minimal excitement, as when we watched Walt meticulously, repeatedly crafting PB&J sandwiches for Flynn (as well as a captive meth dealer), installing a hot water heater, not to mention Hank's rehab, Marie's weirdo house hunting, etc. It wasn't all slam-bang action in BrBa, either.

Is Better Call Saul a satisfying prequel to Breaking Bad, or not what you hoped it would be? I've seen BCS- Every episode. Michael Mckean is good. It okay but I BB is way better. They are trying to bring back all the characters from the original series that they can, but I don't think its good enough. It reminds me of a Star War prequel trilogy. many hints to the original , but many things lacking - including charm. It's not easy when we know what the ending is going to be. A couple episodes are charming but for the most part it isn't very appealing . Pretty boring for the most part. Don't get me wrong I am still going to watch it but without Jesse and Walter, It feels like Breaking Bad Lite.

It doesn't matter how many characters from BB they bring back, Without Walt + as the central protagonists, it lost its charm. Saul Goodman was better as a supporting character on BB i think

Are we supposed to root for the man at all? After watching BB, we know that he probably ordered that little kids death( the one who shot Combo) He acted like he didn't stating " Are you asking me if I would murder a child?"> Walter answer "I would never ask you that". This implied he didn't have to ask Gus, since he knew he probably would. Later on, Gus threatens to kill Walters entire family (including his infant daughter)unless he stayed away from Jesse and not prevent Hanks death. Gus may have been smart , but he was a monster and I could never want to root for him. Hes too unlikable now.

I never rooted for Hank on BB but I still liked watching his arc unfold.

I actually prefer it to BB. Bob Odenkirk owns the role, and it keeps you guessing. I do agree that a year between seasons bites, but it seems like all the good shows do that

Think about this- would we give a crap about anyone on the show if they weren't on Breaking Bad first? Walter White and Jesse were just too damn charming as well as the rest of the cast. We wanted to see everything they did- and we all grew to love them. Without BB, BCS would be a 3rd rate series. There was only a few good episodes in BCS after 2 full seasons here.

He was my favorite character on BB, and I find his origin story fascinating. For me, Saul was the only character who leavened the chronic desperation of the other main characters. He had his agenda, just as they did, but for the most part stayed clear of the fray, and even served as the voice of reason at times. He was the charming con who knew well enough that the rest of those lunatics were going to keep grinding away until their whole scene exploded, and he was just trying to skin a little cream off of the top as these dervishes careened toward their ultimate fate. He gave them a little hope for a softer landing, and the viewers some comic relief amidst the maelstrom. As to april's point, there's no way to know whether we'd have found Saul interesting if he'd been presented to us without his introduction on Breaking Bad. We met him via BB, and that's the only way it can be, so speculation is pointless.

Mike the hit man is also a fantastic character, and part of the appeal of BCS is that his story is such a huge subplot. A+ show all the way around. I am re-watching season 2 right now in anticipation 4/16.

I've been trying other series to find something I like as well. Currently catching up on "House of Lies" and "Billions", both interesting shows, but none of the characters are as engaging as Saul and Mike.

I am now 4 episodes away from watching through BCS a second time, so me and roomy can watch BCS in realtime. I'm kind of glad. As everyone has said, this is character driven completely, a slow burn. BB had a 'popcorn/serial' edge to it, this doesn't. But it's good. We may get caught up tonight. The new season is set on DVR.

Is Better Call Saul a satisfying prequel to Breaking Bad, or not what you hoped it would be? Satisfying in every way one could possibly hope. Despite AMC's efforts to kill it, it remains one of the best shows on television.
