I agree what the British did in India and elsewhere were atrocities. But we don't have a let's celebrate genocide day about it. We have also been on the receiving end, in 43AD, and again in 1066.

You're celebrating your survival thanks to the help of indigenous peoples... and then you shamelessly wiped them out under the guise of manifest destiny, otherwise called genocide. The native Americans should have let the invaders starve and succumb to exposure.

I agree, what was done to the American Indian outrages me and saddens my heart. But I don't celebrate the survival of those pilgrims. Our nation would of flourished without them.
What we celebrate now (and I think most Americans would agree) is family, friends, the abundance of food, and the privilege to be a part of a great country that affords us individual rights and freedoms.
I assume the British feel the same about what has been given to them.

I assume the British feel the same about what has been given to them. No. We are struggling under the ever increasing divide between the rich and the poor in this country. And bitter that 70% of the land and wealth in this country is still owned by the direct descendants of the French overlords that invaded and stole it all from us in 1066.

Can't wait for the Lions/Vikes tomorrow after the Macy's Day Parade I'm a sucker for seeing Santa at the end Loved the atmosphere of the Lions games on Turkey Day watching this guy - the most electrifying guy in any of the 4 major sports I ever saw play - that includes Jordan:

And bitter that 70% of the land and wealth in this country is still owned by the direct descendants of the French overlords that invaded and stole it all from us in 1066. Who is 'us' though? The Romans did the same to the Britons, then the Saxons repeated the process once the Romans skipped town. You could argue the Welsh are the last true Celtic Brits south of Scotland. Then again... the Norman Invasion featured a fair amount of troops from Brittany in France, which was heavy with the descendants of the Britons who fled the island as the Saxons took over. So maybe things were all square at that point? It's more class warfare than ethnic at this point. Sometimes I miss the good old days. I mean on the upside, people today get to choose their leaders. The downside is that people can be fooled. In the good old days you could take the crown by the edge of a sword. Nobody wants war, but there's no way Trump earns the Presidency through competent leadership. Food for thought, I suppose.

The real Thanksgiving was in October I'd rather call Columbus Day 'Canadian Thanksgiving' here in the states. Less uncomfortable inferences to genocide and the like.

A living video game character. imagine if he had that Cowboys O-Line? to me it was like watching Iverson - but you could only watch him 16 times a year or so. really hope the Lions make the playoffs this year. i rarely get jacked up for an NFL game outside of the Eagles - but if it's Lions and Cowboys on Turkey Day - they're a must for me.
