Gremio from Porto Alegre, Brazil, beat Lanus from Buenos Aires, Argentina, to win their third Libertadores Cup. Gremio won both legs, 1-0 at home and then 1-2 on the return game.
Gremio is the last team to book passage to the Club World Cup starting next week in Abu Dhabi. The other participants are:
Real Madrid (UEFA Champions) Pachuca (Mexico) (CONCACAF Champions) Urawa Red Diamonds (Japan) (Asian Champions) Wydad Casablanca (Morocco) (African Champions) Auckland City (New Zealand) (Oceania Champions) Al-Jazira (UAE) (representatives of host country)
Real Madrid and Gremio get a bye to the semi-finals.

And the second leg is under way in Buenos Aires, with visitors Grêmio ahead 0-2 at half-time. Lanus will need a minor miracle to come back from that one.
