Maybe we should keep this format for only a couple more weeks. After weeks 12 and 13, there will be only 4 weeks left and it will make more sense to switch to a playoff hunt mode rather than a winners and losers mode, because ultimately, all 12 playoff teams will be considered to be winners (by accomplishing the main goal of the regular season, that is, making the playoffs) while the other 20 will be losers. Speculation about winners and losers will be trumped by facts and no longer necessary. We can then engage in predictions about playoff scenarios, as they happen. Anyway, for now we'll continue, and if someone wants to consult the current state of affairs, here is the link to week 11: ------------- Winners:Vikings - Now ahead in their division by 3 games, looking all set for a deep playoff run. Falcons - With the Saints losing, the Falcons and the Panthers are right in the thick of things for the NFC South, and within the wild card slots anyway. Panthers - Now level with the Saints and controlling their own destiny, no longer depend on other teams to have a chance of winning the NFC South. If it happens I don't know but if it doesn't, should still make the playoffs. Patriots - the favorites to reach the Super Bowl from the AFC side. Eagles - continue to dazzle, best record in the NFL Saints - level with the Panthers now but will make the playoffs anyway if they don't win the division. Rams - great victory against the mighty Saints whom nobody could beat since the end of week 2. Steelers - They keep giving their fans a lot of heart attacks but keep winning. Losers: Cowboys - This team completely fell apart without some of their important players due to a suspension and injuries. And hey, DC-Fan thought they would run the table... LOL. Ever since he said so they lost three in a row. Lions - That's enough. I'll no longer give the Lions the benefit of the doubt. They won't make the playoffs. Giants - Now at 2-9, remain pathetic. Bucs - At 4-7 it's all effectively over for them, and has been for a while already. Browns - the first draft pick is the only consolation. 0-11 now. Bengals - they beat the lowly Browns but don't inspire any confidence. Colts - Totally irrelevant at 3-8. Dolphins - continue to sink. Jets - Can't catch a break. Squandered their comeback with silly penalties. Bears - another mediocre 3-8 team. Niners - the worst of two worlds, they suck, but still, the Browns will likely get the first draft pick. Cardinals - yes, impressive upset against the Jaguars but I don't think they'll make the playoffs anyway. Broncos - how the mighty have fallen! Raiders - Won one but very mediocre and irregular Packers - even when they play well they still lose... Texans - very unexciting team with Savage at the helm Need more evidence: Chargers - This is the team with a losing record that no team with a winning record will want to play against. Given that most of their losses were really close, by now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt. Maybe they will be able to pull it off, if they play well in all remaining games. They are now only one game behind the sinking Chiefs. Redskins - The thing is, they are way behind in the playoff race but all four teams ahead of them are in decline and coming out of losses (Seattle, Green Bay, Detroit, and Dallas) so, who knows? Sure, then there is the small matter of the Panthers and Falcons actually currently occupying those slots but who knows? Maybe the Redskins might still make it. Banged up like they are, I doubt it, but this peculiar position at least warrants the NME list again, for another week. Titans - Could make a run for the division with the Jaguars' surprising loss. I still feel that the Jaguars are better than the Titans, but now both these teams will need more evidence. Jaguars - See above. I do think they'll make the playoffs, but I want more evidence just to see which one will win the division. Bills - Hanging in there after they cancelled the big blunder of the ill-fated Peterman start and brought back Taylor; they ware as of now within the wild card. Chiefs - On the verge of missing the playoffs if they continue to decline, but as of now still leading the division, by a hair. Seahawks - Hard to know what to make of them, could still make the playoffs although I find it unlikely Ravens - Surprisingly they are in the playoff picture although they are very mediocre. ---------------- Feel free to agree, disagree, and/or post your own analyses. Our resident troll Granny (a.k.a. BritneyFox) will post her usual ridiculous garbage and we'll keep telling that fatty to go out and get some exercise. Enjoy week 12!

The Eagles, Saints and Vikings - something's gotta give here. Ain't no room for 3 great teams in one NFC title game. Barring injury, the NFC playoffs should be outstanding.

The Eagles, Saints and Vikings - something's gotta give here. Ain't no room for 3 great teams in one NFC title game. Barring injury, the NFC playoffs should be outstanding. Indeed. NFC playoff race: Current division leaders: Eagles Vikings Saints Rams Wild Card teams as of now (if the season ended today): Panthers Falcons The Hunting Pack, in order, tie-breakers already considered: Seahawks Lions Packers Cowboys Redskins Cardinals Bucs Bears Giants Niners -------- I actually think that this playoff scenario won't change much. I think the odds that the 6 teams listed above as reaching the playoffs if the season ended today, actually making it, is way higher than the odds of any of the 10 remaining teams replacing them. The closest adversaries of the Panthers and Falcons all seem to be in trouble and in decline. Then, not only the Saints, Eagles, and Vikings would be fighting for only two slots in the NFC Championship Game, but at least the much improved Panthers might be in the mix as well. The Falcons and the Rams have been more irregular but could toughen up too. The NFC playoffs will probably be very good, somehow rescuing a season that has been unbalanced with too many bad teams and too many devastating injuries (and one devastating suspension). The AFC playoff scenario looks way less impressive: Current division leaders: Steelers Patriots Jaguars Chiefs Wild Card teams as of now (if the season ended today): Titans Ravens The Hunting Pack, in order, tie-breakers already considered: Bills Chargers Dolphins Jets Bengals Raiders Texans Colts Broncos Browns Unlike the NFC, it feels like only the Patriots and the Steelers are legit, and not even the next four would hold a candle to the NFC playoff teams. This is seen in the fact that the two current Wild Card teams in the AFC are definitely mediocre, the Chiefs are in steep decline, and the Jaguars didn't have a great strength of schedule. So it seems like either the Steelers or the Patriots (more likely the Patriots, in my opinion) will be sitting pretty, waiting for the last team standing in the wicked fight that the NFC playoffs should be. This might constitute a clear advantage for the AFC champions, because the battle for the NFC will be a lot more bruising.

Do you remember when the Cowboys were going to run the table and win the NFC East? If the Eagles beat the Bears Sunday, the division race is already over in week 12. Nuts.

We just saw Tennessee's first win in Indianapolis since 2007. It's the first time Tennessee have won the season series over Indy since 2002.
Colts 2017 record in first halves of games: 8-2-1
Colts 2017 record in second halves of games: 1-9-1 (that last 1 was a second half tie that mercifully became a Colts OT win, over the goddamn 49ers, at home)
Looking at these useful stats you might conclude that Pagano's Colts are not very good at defending first half leads. And you'd be right. THEY HAVE LOST ALL BUT ONE GAME IN WHICH THEY WERE WINNING AT HALFTIME. This is a season that featured the Jaguars shutting us out at home and they are most likely going to complete the sweep next weekend.
You might say that now is not a very fun time to be a Colts fan.

shadyvsesham Yeah, we often disagree about the Redskins... I don't know why I keep giving them a pass. I move them back and forth between losers, a couple of times even winners, and mostly NME... when they've been actually insufficient to make it in the NFC. I guess, yes, losers. I actually don't think the NFC playoff scenario will change much. I think ultimately we'll have the six from the NFC being the Eagles, the Rams, the Vikings, and the three from the NFC South, the Falcons, Saints, and Panthers. It's kind of unlikely that anybody else will jump them. The one big danger, though, is that the NFC South is so deep that these teams might beat on each other, favoring the Seahawks who face much lighter competition. Atlanta however does have the head-to-head tie breaker with Seattle. But maybe the Panthers will be in trouble (I hope I'm saying this out of logic and not wishful thinking - nothing would give me more pleasure!): they will play against the Saints, the Vikings, and the Falcons. That's a hell of a schedule. They do have a couple of breaks (Packers, Bucs) but these three games will be bruising battles. It's the same thing for the Falcons, though. Bucs twice, but then the Saints, the Vikings, and the Panthers. Oh my... The Saints at least won't face the Vikings. Instead they get the Jets. But the Jets aren't that easy either. Yes, Seattle could do it because comparatively they get an easier schedule. Eagles and Rams, but also Jaguars, Cowboys, and Cardinals.

Yes, Seattle could do it because comparatively they get an easier schedule. Eagles and Rams, but also Jaguars, Cowboys, and Cardinals. The team that eveyrone is forgetting about is the Detroit Lions, their schedule is very easy from here on out and they could easily go 11-5, putting them right in the thick of the playoff picture. Seahawks aren't going to the playoffs IMO, between the fact that they don't have a running game, their joke of an O-Line and their huge injuries on defense, plus their schedule is hard, they have the Eagles and Rams, plus they play the Cowboys when Zeke returns and the Jags and Cardinals aren't bad either. I think the Saints, Falcons and Panthers all belong in the playoffs, but their hard schedule means one of them might get eliminated. I hope if one of them gets eliminated it's the Panthers, the games this Sunday between the Vikings/Falcons and Panthers/Saints are huge.
