agreed. dribbling a ball takes skill. my favorite athlete: oh - you're talking about soccer - you're not allowed to use your hands? yawn. jesus - i can jog 7 miles aimlessly- and i think i can act like i know what i'm doing running around an open field the size of Antarctica if you're 'not allowed to use your hands' and just your feet where do i sign and when's my first paycheck Try the USA national team. You'll probably get a game too. Boom! That was a low blow. And I'd be outraged. If it wasn't so true.

America loves football, and wont be long before MLS rises up to number two to overtake Baseball. You can rail against it but it's happening whether you like it or not. It's an unstoppable train.

Holy shit you're a moron. Attendance figures? Hey Dippy - how many teams are in the MLS 22 - knock 10 or so teams out of the NHL and NBA with the lowest attendance and then give me those #s Bub. MLS has their hard core 'fanatic' fan dorks in limited markets - they can't reach the casual viewer and nobody else cares about them in this country other than the dorky soccer virgin who can't get laid. You want to compare ratings for the NBA and the MLS on TV I'm willing to bet more people in this country tune into a Lifetime Golden Girls rerun than an MLS 'footy' game.

You want to compare ratings for the NBA and the MLS on TV Anyone can fudge TV rating numbers. Putting bums on seats, that's what counts. MLS is more popular than NBA and NHL.

Stan is right. More people in the US now watch the English Premier League on TV than your own NHL, and still growing. Average MLS attendances are higher than NHL and NBA, and still growing. 50% in US now have an interest in 'soccer', and still growing. Your growing Latin American population is expanding interest in 'soccer' rapidly.

Am I lost? And from above - it was stated MLS > NBA So the 'Premier League' has more viewers than the NHL? That actually wouldn't be shocking to me - because I think the NHL blows now. But if you're going to sit there and tell me that the MLS is more popular than the NBA - I'd say you're from Mars and smokin' some great sh*t right now

You not wanting to believe it won't change that. Sorry. Jesus H. Christ. You're as dumb as him. I guess it would be like me trying to talk about soccer. I get it. Yes - you're right - the MLS is more popular than the NBA Soccer has a very small - and I mean very small fanatic fan base here. It will never touch the NBA. It's kind of like wrestling. I'll admit - I find 'sports entertainment/wrestling' entertaining. It has a 'niche' market like a lot of things in life. Soccer will never appeal to the casual viewer here. Never. Sorry. Not hating. Live and let live. We all have our hobbies and interests - I have a ton others don't 'get' - and I get it comes down to a cultural experience so to speak - but Soccer will never - and I mean never - catch on here. For years they've been trying. Trying like hell. It's just not going to happen here.

NHL and NBA arenas hold 20,000 people. MLS stadiums hold considerably more. That's why the "average attendance" of MLS is higher. Plus, percentage attendance at NBA and NHL games tends to be nearer capacity than attendance at soccer.

...or whoever the fastest guys in the world are over 60 yards or something. Because I was watching a documentary about OJ Simpson, and it turns out he couldn't even catch a ball, so what they did was literally hand the ball directly to him (rather than throw it to him), then he'd just run with it to score a TD every time. Because he was extremely quick, no one could stop him, so that's how he became widely regarded as the greatest NFL player of all time, despite having absolutely no skill (besides being able to run quickly). So why don't NFL teams just hire the 8 100m Olympic finalists every 4 years? What good would he be if he can't run patterns and catch a ball? You can hand him the ball to run, but with all that padding on he's not going to out sprint anybody, and really there isn't that much space to sprint on the field.
