Nobody who knows anything about football considers O.J. Simpson "the greatest football player of all time." Stick to sports you know about.

Stick to sports you know about. manley's a good dude. he knows a lot about boxing and i enjoy conversing with him about fistacuffs. i regard this as he's poking a lil fun at the U.S. they're passionate about 'soccer/footy' over there as the U.S. is about football, basketball, baseball in the U.S. personally i don't get soccer for the life of me and played growing up but i'm betting 99.9% of fans over there don't get football either.......

I know you're not as stupid as this thread makes you appear to be. He's trolling. He has to be! He just has to! Great job Manly - fyi - I'm drunk too since it's Thanksgiving. Props to you! I'm not sure if he is trolling or really clueless about American sports. This is not the first time he makes absurd claims about our sports. OJ Simpson the GOAT? LOL. Just running fast would do it in the NFL? LOL. Soccer is more popular in the United States than baseball? LOL. I do give him the credit for being interested, if his interest is real and not a trolling interest.

MLS is more popular than the NBA?? Ha Ha. Hilarious. That dumb comment should have ended this thread. Here you go. Average attendance across 4 US sports 2016/2017. As you can see, more people got off their arses, paid their money, and put their bum on a seat, to watch MLS, over NBA, and NHL. Worth pointing out, some MLS games are pulling in attendances approaching 50,000 now.

...As has been ignored by you, more people CAN go to watch MLS because the stadiums have much higher capacities than NHL and NBA arenas. "Average attendance" is a useless statistic here.

Quick search shows average MLS stadium capacity is only 5,000 more than an NBA arena. Not a huge difference is it. If you factor for the difference, guess what? MLS still comes out on top of NBA. You're all like King Cnut trying to hold back the tide.

There are 82 games in an NBA season. Why don't we look at TV viewers? There is seriously no comparison here.

You know, the people who can be bothered to actually pay to go and support a team or sport in real life.

NBA makes WAY more money than the MLS, that is because they get millions more viewers.

Quick search shows average MLS stadium capacity is only 5,000 more than an NBA arena. Not a huge difference is it. The largest NHL arena holds around 21,000. MLS has at least 12 stadiums with higher capacities than that. The largest MLS stadiums hold as many 50, 60, even 70,000. With percentage attendance at NBA and NHL games tending to be nearer capacity than attendance at soccer, can you imagine if NHL arenas could hold that many people? Christ, for the 2014 Winter Classic (an annual NHL regular season game that's held at an outdoor stadium) attendance at Michigan Stadium was 105,491. If NHL and NBA arenas had higher capacities, people would continue to flock to watch games every night as they always do, and the average attendance would go up. I know that because the NHL has a lot more fans in the US than MLS. And the NBA is even MORE popular. This is seriously not even an argument.

This has to be the most ridiculous argument I have seen in a while. The NBA and MLS are not even in the same discussion. The NBA is FAR more popular.

Sport is for genuine supporters, not lazy ass couch potatoes😉 Teach your kids that football is a spectator sport, not a TV programme or video game⚽👍💪😛

You do realise you posted a video taking the piss out of Americans. But you can see what it means to them. America loves football. Where I come from, the boys on the playground play football, and the girls play catch (which is essentially American Football). The only difference is the girls don't feel the need to dress up head to toe in padding to play catch. So essentially, a British school girl is tougher than an NFL player.

It's funny because it's true. I've seen some of that Merkin football on the tellybox once. It was just some fat old white blokes shouting orders at a load of black geezers on a pitch. Weird shit. Couldn't make head nor tail of it.

It's OK. We laugh at these people over here. This is my view of the American soccer fan - embarrassing small niche soccer fanbase in this country. But to each their own - I have hobbies/interests others don't enjoy. It's a very small niche of over the top fanatics here - and the league/sport will never become as popular as the NBA, NFL, MLB. 'Catch'? - correct me if I'm wrong - but 'we' tackle over here - you're not allowed to get hit over there - some tough sport ya got there Bub
