That is my 4th favorite movie of 2017 so far. I know it earned rave reviews but I'm worried it'll get lost in the rush for awards nominations.

Shot Caller (2017)That's clear cut for me as it's easily my #1 movie of anything released in 2016 or 2017 and within my Top 107 movies in general. I gave it a 7.5-8/10 where as nothing else scores above a 6-6.5/10 from 2016 or 2017. Ill have to see how it holds up on a re-watch at some point in the not too distant future. I don't see nothing else challenging Shot Caller for 2017 as I am confident that will remain my #1 movie of 2017. p.s. that's from the same director as Felon (2008) (9/10) which is within my Top 26 movies. NOTE: 2016 and 2017 have been pretty weak years overall. for measure... I would have to go back to 1998 to find a weaker overall year than these two years. hell, just looking at the 1990's to date, which contains the vast majority of my favorite movies in general (i.e. 79.1% to be exact(or basically 8 out of 10 movies)), there have only been five years that failed to give me at least three movies I scored a 7/10 or higher in each year, which are... 1990/1992/1998/2016/2017. but just between 2016 vs 2017... I would say 2016 would be the worst of the two as it's got four 6-6.5/10 range movies where as 2017 only has one 6-6.5/10 range movie but Shot Caller, which I gave a 7.5-8/10, elevated it above 2016 overall.
