Am currently not feeling well and came across a few DVDs of the first few seasons at my moms and dusted them off and am now watching. I'll admit I dozed off a couple of times. Are there any fans out there? And there are some extremely questionable scenes I've noticed as well. I know it's a soap but I don't think a lot of what goes on would fly today. Anyone have any thoughts? I realize it's a very old show so probably won't get much attention on here.

I watched it during its original run in the 80s, though it was already season 6 when I began watching the series. And then years later, I saw reruns of some of the episodes from previous seasons. I have thought about watching the entire series starting with season 1, but honestly, some episodes from seasons 1-4 seem downright boring. Season 5 was the highest rated (the show was #1 in the ratings at the time). I would probably enjoy that season the best.
The very last season was the lowest rated, but I LOVED the constant spats between Alexis and Sable.

If Dynasty was rebooted today, Alexis and Krystle would be doing the 'nasty together at some point.

If I'm correct, they ARE making a reboot of Dynasty....or at least thinking about it. I wish they'd do the same for Knot's Landing.....and wish they hadn't cancelled Dallas (reboot)....or "Blood and Oil" for that matter. I liked all of those shows.

I read about the reboot last year, and it sounds like a terrible idea. The story will be set around Fallon going head-to-head with her Latina stepmother named Crystal. I would've preferred to see Adam emerge as the new family patriarch. It would've been cool if, in the years that went by, he remarried a woman who turned out to be just as conniving and manipulative as Alexis. So that she can give him and his family a few headaches.

I think there are still a lot of fans for the show. There were many posters on the old IMDb board for 'Dynasty.' Which scenes do you consider questionable? There are a few scences in which the men seem to push the women around, or are really rough with them and this seems normal to them. That's at least how it seems to me. I'm also still on the first season and there is an episode where Blake rapes Crystal! And then it all just goes back to normal afterwards and they seem to still get along. But maybe its just me. Sorry for taking so long to reply, I wasn't on here for awhile.

I don't doubt you, but I will probably need to look at it again to see what the context was. One thing they were trying to establish in the beginning was how powerful Blake was, and how he owned his women, his children and his competitors (and sometimes his women and his children were his competitors!). They soften him as the show goes on and I'm sure that was because of John Forsythe's input. He was not known for playing villains.

I never liked John Forsythe as Blake. He seemed wrong for the part. And he was much older than everyone else in the cast. Alexis still being in love with him after all the years that went by just didn't seem believable. But I later found out that George Peppard was the original choice to play Blake, which makes sense since he was very handsome back in the day. He even filmed the pilot episode, but because of his supposed bad temper, he was fired from the show, and then John Forsythe was brought in as his replacement.

He was the only cast member to appear in every episode, and he also crossed over to The Colbys, which increases his overall episode count as Blake.
