I can't find any... I know they created St. Elsewhere, but I didn't think it was similar. Heck, "Picket Fences" was closer, but that wasn't half as good.
I'm picky on shows.. I love The Larry Sanders Show, Peep Show, The Wonder Years, Roseanne, Little House on the Prairie, Seinfeld --- I'm picky, but I'm sure someone might understand what I'd like.

NX is my all time favorite tv show. I'm not aware of any similar tv shows. I've heard people mention Due South, but I couldn't say it's good because I've never watched it. I think the similarity is that a Canadian Mountie experiences life in Chicago. The movie Local Hero has often been compared to NX. It's similar in that it's about an American who goes to a small town in Scotland. The residents there are somewhat quirky. I've grown to love that movie, but it's only a couple of hours.

Hey, Sulla - that movie sounds like a British show called 'Doc Martin', I think. Someone on the old IMDb mentioned it, but I never got around to checking it out. I saw a few YouTube clips of NX recently; one of these days I'm going to have a little marathon to lift my spirits.

I forgot all about that one. I see Netflix has it available. I may have to check that out after I finish Game of Thrones. Thanks!

It was no doubt influenced by Twin Peaks and they share the quirky small town feel. TP was obviously a lot darker though.

I think the only show after Northern Exposure that had me so engrossed in the inhabitants of a town was Buffy!

Though they did manage to pay "homage" to TP in the first season with a really poor nod to the show. Maybe a bigger influence later when NE got a little weirder.

I had Twin Peaks on VHS, and after watching a few tapes, I'd let another neighbor borrow it I watched "The Honeymooners" for the first time last year, and it seems like it's still an influence.
