"It's ridiculous, and both sides are responsible." I've said it before but it's just like this Fans of what is essentially the same thing, arguing over which brand is better. You can have your preference but people take it that far it's as though it's a Presidential Election with how serious people take it. They're people that run around in tight, sometimes based on an animal (Batman/Spider-man), come on now. PC MASTER RACE!

It's ridiculous, and both sides are responsible. Actually is not even ridiculous anymore. It's beyond that.
As a lurker, it's been fun for five minutes, now is at best annoying.
And to think that all these energies are wasted on movies that, while usually fun to watch (some more, some less), are vastly overrated and not worth it. I guess people get entertainment where they find it?

I chose other because there should not even be a war. The MCU won years ago. They just make better movies that are more successful critically and financially.

Because the feud isn't between DC and Marvel. Most DC fans like the X-Men movies and the first 2 Spider-Man movies. Hey scabab you wanted proof of guys who hate the MCU for existing, right?

MCU fanatics are responsible. DC Fan, Wormhole and many others tip that scale. Honestly both are responsible and it's ridiculous.

There is no real feud. Just people that hate when others talk bad about their fandom so they retaliate (on both sides). The majority of the people here like both companies when it comes to the comics characters. But at the same time know when the studios make bad movies. The problem is that, between the 4 major studios, it is one sided. So with DC doing mostly terrible it looks like hate for that one side because people point that out.

Please let's try not to turn this thread into another round of bickering from both sides. Clearly, CLEARLY, both sides are responsible.
...Some for starting shit, others for over-reacting to things, some for continuing to flame long past reason. So that's what I voted. However...
I'm noticing that the second most voted choice is that DC is most responsible and I wonder if you would get different results if you posted this same thing on the MCU boards. Just curious, because it smacks a little of MCU voters voting against DC... again. I hardly believe DC voters are admitting DC fans are more responsible for the nonsense than MCU fans.

The problem is that, between the 4 major studios, it is one sided. So with DC doing mostly terrible it looks like hate for that one side because people point that out. Its a point I've made before: Marvel properties are being done by more studios than just MCU. There's Sony and Fox too, not to mention Universal still having a bid on some of them. DC has only been held by one studio for quite some time.
And I've always held that WB just doesn't believe in superhero movies quite as strongly as some of the other studios do. For the longest time they only did Superman and Batman. That's it. That makes me believe that they didn't have faith these properties could be that strong except for as a once in a blue moon type hit. So much so that they allowed Marvel to get ahead when they formed their own studio.
WB could have had a shared universe of super heroes ages ago, but they blew it. Now, they're behind, no matter how good a movie they make. How cool would it have been to see Christopher Reeve and Michal Keeton in a Superman/Batman movie together? Or Christian Bale and Brandon Routh or Henry Cavill in a movie together? Or even just George Millers Justice League Mortal?
WB LET Marvel not only start sooner, but also get ahead. Far ahead. WB could have been first with a shared universe of DC properties. The only area in which they came out ahead was with Wonder Woman, and even that took forever. WB have no one to blame but themselves.

This feud is one of the most pathetic things ever. There’s no way anyone who is part of it has ever touched a woman (sorry but this had to be said). Those people need to realize that this is no way to live. You’re not gonna go far in life if such an insignificant thing is such a big deal to you.

A fair point, Len, well-taken, and something I took into account when making this poll. I eventually posted it here because I know a lot of Marvel fans also post here, and I guessed, from general sentiment, that we have more Marvel fans than DC fans here--so I didn't want to give Marvel a home field advantage. I tried to balance the scales, as it were. I hoped that the anonymity of the poll format would prompt more honesty, regardless of what one writes. It doesn't surprise me that we're reluctant to write that the feud is "justified," but I do want candid feedback. I'd like to know where we all truly stand. I've been considering this "feud," and I posted this poll, because I never exactly saw anything like it before. There were always arguments, I know, but mostly good-natured ones; when these movie universes came out, it resulted in something else--this. Human beings do love to argue, and if not about something vital--say, politics, or religion, two of the three unutterable subjects--then about, say, film, literature, or comic-books. Does that mean that it may well be a good thing, or at least human nature, as salomonj implied and onethreetwo wrote? There is merit to that argument; duking it out about superhero flicks may well be expected--"human nature." And yet--and yet--we've seen cases, especially with sports teams, in which fandom becomes worse, and even minor cases--name-calling, for example--lead to bigger deals. Thus my plea for civility, a forgotten virtue in an egalitarian age. Thus, too, would I like to see actual numbers, actual thoughts--and this poll. I know I rambled a bit (I've a tendency to do that), but I hope it explains a few things.

Well, my friend, the feuding between DC fans and Marvel fans goes back to way before they even made movies about both their properties. I've written about this before on here, but in brief, I've been a life long comic collector and loved both Marvel AND DC comics, and I can remember even as a kid that there were two camps of fans: Those who read any kinds of comics and those who only read Marvel. It was as if Marvel took a hold of the psyche and made a stamp! I can imagine that in the 60's when Marvel first came out with Spiderman and Fantastic Four that they must have seemed amazing in comparison to DC which must have seemed old and stodgier. What I don't understand is how the rivalry has persisted.

lenlenlen1Granted, but--as far as I know, and I'm no expert, so correct me if I'm wrong--it was never this bad before. Perhaps my attribution of blame to the movies is incorrect, and it's more the fault of the Internet, but I will say I was never aware of the feuding being so bad before the modern era.
