I understand the reason why the Movie got the NC-17 Rating (Because of the Sex Scene in it between Lea Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos) but still, I feel that it might have deserved even something more like an "X" (Do they still do that ?) or even just have it be Unrated.
What does everybody else here think ?

R is out of the question as only NC-17 or X would be a proper rating for it. basically i feel that sex scene is pretty much as graphic as can be before it pushes straight up porn level and not only that it's roughly 7 minutes long if i recall correctly when i timed it years ago.
p.s. i don't know why 'unrated' is even a option since the topic asks for a rating so it needs a proper rating and 'unrated' is not a proper rating.

I agree that it is about about as close as you could get to Hardcore Porn. It is definitely more Graphic and Intense than Scenes in Softcore Movies. I am actually quite surprised both of those Actresses agreed to do that scene in that way. |

I think they gave the movie the right rating. Have you had a chance to read the graphic novel yet? They cut a lot out of it for the movie and a proper adaption would have had to have been rated X or made as a porn movie.
