Not a bad Stallone film. At least in terms of 80's action from Golan-Globus which happens to star Stallone. Kind of entertaining as long as you turn your brain off. Some good action sequences.

After Rocky IV and Rambo II, this is Stallone at the height of his ego trip. All I remember is Stallone putting the bad guy on a hook then into a blast furnace.

"You're a disease, and I'm the cure".
Awesome stuff. Would cause outrage now days, a cop actually treating criminals like criminals and all.

Yeah, the mid 80's was Stallone at his most vain and egotistical. And he did write the script for this film. You have to admire him for drinking a can of Coors during a hostage crisis and cutting up pizza with scissors.

You know, like Stallone or Arnie? I think we are heading into an era where the main action star doesn't curse, doesn't kill, doesn't smoke and he is politically correct

Not even their own. See also WIlliam Petersen in To Live and Die in L.A.

I barely watch modern films. They all the same and all require a love interest or better still a kickass female who looks too small to carry the weapons she carries let alone know how to use them. The last decent action film I saw was Shooter with Marky mark and that was made last century!

There are some exceptions, but films made since around the turn of the century have been mostly garbage and/or forgettable. I'm very partial to most films made from the 1940's to around the mid 1980's. From there it really started going downhill.

It had some great product placement sequences. Oh yeah. I was surprised at the amount of Pepsi stuff that was shown with the grocery store and that big neon sign later in the film.

Not Stallone's best action film by any means but enjoyable enough.
As for today, the best pure action films made in the last 5 years are the 2 "John Wick" movies. Pure action films are not as common as they were in the 80's.

For sure, but considering it was modestly budgeted for a Stallone film and it clips along real nice, is very stylish with some excellent action and disturbing violence that is not too graphic, it gives his routine and even boring RAMBO III-88' a good run for it's money. Now, for me, nothing beats RAMBO: FIRST BLOOD PART II. This is my favorite, straight forward non sci-fi action film. He got everything just right in this one, from the build up, to the relentless pursuit.
