Inspired by hi224's thread, I wonder if there's a certain genre (or even several genres?) that you would never like to see again. Or perhaps--if we can't go there--then is there a genre you'd at least like to see on hiatus for a while?* Delay its comeback? (I'm sure some people, myself included, would say that about superhero movies.) Or is there a genre you'd never like to see again? *I originally wrote that I couldn't think of a genre I'd like to interdict in its entirety, but Caesium137 reminded me that there's such a thing as this "torture porn" genre/sub-genre, and I'd be perfectly happy never to have one of those made ever again.

Torture porn films like Saw and Hostel need to end.
But what should make a comeback are classical natural disaster movies and westerns.

What is the purpose of them? who sits down to watch them and walks away thinking,"Well, that was enjoyable." What do you mean by classical natural disaster movies?

^^^ yeah I never understood the appeal of "torture porn" horror films.
I'll add romantic comedies (basically the cheap / mindless cash grabs starring the likes of Kate Hudson or Aniston).

I would say half of it is genre and the other is themes:
- Post-apocalypse-with-zombies, we've seen the whole spectrum (too many times) already.
- Useless-sequels-that-somewhat-tarnish-or-mess-with-the-original (Maudit Denis)
- Dark-and-depressing-as-in-existential-crisis-tone-in-movies-that-should-be-"light" I'm not interested in seeing Bond suffer or being depressed, I want gadgets, cheesy jokes, beautiful women and action. The bad guy also has to have more than 5 minutes total screentime (looking at you Skyfall)
- Genre-changing-over-the-duration-of-the-movie Exhibit 1: The Mummy (2017) is the epitome of that issue (it has so many others but let's stick to this one). It started as an adventure, then moved sci-fi, then horror and finished like a super-hero movie! Exhibit 2: Murder on the Orient Express (2017). The first 15 minutes make you think it will be a comedy but the rest is full drama and crime.
Here I rest my case!

Nonlinear biographical films.
Raunchy remakes of older television series.
'Alien monster running amok on a spaceship' sci-fi/horror movies.
'Psycho-Stalker' thriller films.

Nonlinear biographical films. I'm not getting this. Biographical films are not exactly my favorites, but how does non-linear structure make them worse? Completely agree on 'Alien monster running amok on a spaceship' movies. They made on ton these from early 80s to mid-90s. Not to mention that pretty much all of them used warehouses for spaceships, which was especially tiring.

True story sports movies made by Disney
Rom-coms with the female lead who has the gay best friend
