But a good one. A wild rollercoaster ride of sci-fi and horror, with cutting edge special effects. And of course the lovely and well-endowed Mathilda May strutting around in her birthday suit is a definite plus.

I viewed that movie for the first time Feb 19th 2017 and it's good enough to where ill see it again in the future at some point. 6/10 (a mild Thumbs Up) p.s. and like Dramatic Look Gopher mentioned... the 'eye candy' from Mathilda May ain't hurting things as it's a nice bonus

I think the first half is quite good but it loses its way towards the end. I finally watched the extended version which fills in some details but it is still crazy.
Steve Railsback and Patrick Stewart are entertaining in their freak out kissing scene.

I think the first half is quite good but it loses its way towards the end. I finally watched the extended version which fills in some details but it is still crazy. Steve Railsback and Patrick Stewart are entertaining in their freak out kissing scene. I'd like to see the unreleased (now lost?) director's cut version, which is said to have close to 30 minutes more alien spaceship footage. Cannon productions, in their infinite wisdom, cut pretty much the whole sequence out, which makes the film a bit weird since it was advertised as a space/sci-fi horror. The early scenes have always been my favorites, with really cool space ship design and Dysktra's magnificent special effects. I agree that story loses it way about halfway trough or a bit later, once we get to the mind link scenes. Acting is really all over the place, though I don't think it's never quite as bad as some review make it out to be. Quatermass and the Pit inspired "city in chaos" scenes feel very staged. Great score, with one of my favorite theme songs ever. Overall I'd give it 6 out of 10. Nice try and definitely one of Tobe's better movies.

I think Steve Railsback is miscast, but otherwise it's pure pulp sci-fi/horror goodness.

Ha! I haven't thought about this movie in years, definitely going to find a way to re-watch it at some point. I really enjoyed it at the time, thinking I will upon revisiting it. My thoughts are pretty much the same as Dramatic Look GopherWorth a watch if you sci-fi, the 80's, and have reasonable expectations. Hardly a perfect movie, but I liked it.

4/10. It's one of those "hits and misses" movies. The finale is pretty good, but overall too much of a miss.

I'm a fan. Of course we all think about the boob space vampire May, but I love the strange atmosphere and the film legit looks beautiful with some great designs. Plus the score is a personal favorite of mine. It's also the only film where you can see Steve Railsback make out with Patrick Stewart. Oh my!

It was a better film than it had any right to be.

Terrific Henry Mancini score. He was justifiably proud of it.
